Each of the marriage candidates from Stardew Valley have their own distinct personalities. It's one of the many features that make the simulation role-playing game so immersive. A great deal of game time can be spent getting to know the bachelors and bachelorettes, their likes and dislikes, individual storylines, and whether they're a good match for the new farmer in town.
It's important to note that creator ConcernedApe gave each Pelican Town singleton a birth date, albeit by season. It inevitably begs the question: what are the zodiac signs of the marriageable NPCs in Stardew Valley?
12 Abigail: The Dark And Alluring Scorpio
Scorpios are infamous for their mysterious, dark ways. Similarly, players are likely to find the purple-haired, flute-playing Abigail hanging out at the town graveyard. She is the daughter of shop-owners Pierre and Caroline, but some fans theorize that her father is actually the Wizard, who lives on the outskirts of Pelican Town. Scorpio is a water sign, which means they tend to feel emotions deeply. If players can gain 10 hearts in their relationship with Abigail, she can be found deep in the mines on rainy days.
11 Alex: The Energetic Gemini
Known as the twins of the zodiac, Gemini is an extroverted and flexible air sign. Alex tends to brag about his athletic achievements and goals, while also hiding some self-esteem issues and the loss of his parents. This is why Pelican Town's very own jock lives with his grandparents, Evelyn and George.
His favorite gift is a Complete Breakfast. Eggs and hash browns with a side of pancakes are the perfect start to any day for this energetic bachelor.
10 Elliott: The Dreamy Libra
Air sign Libra is ruled by the planet Venus, goddess of love and beauty. This means this particular sign can often be overly romantic. Writer Elliot lives in a small cabin on the beach of Pelican Town with a hankering for inspiration, crab cakes, lobster, and pomegranates. He's one of the town's older bachelors, having moved to Pelican Town to finish his novel. If the player pursues a relationship with this Libra, they're likely to become more of a writer's muse than a partner.
9 Emily: Taurus The Earthy Bull
Second in the zodiac, the earth sign of Taurus is known to live with a relaxed outlook. They also tend to be stubborn. Bartender of The Stardrop Saloon Emily is down-to-earth. She has a natural kindness, an interest in the healing qualities of crystals, and makes clothes. She lives with her sister Hayley in her parents' house, who are away traveling. If players choose to marry the blue-haired Emily, she'll set up her own crystal garden on the farm where she can be seen meditating from time to time.
8 Harvey: Capricorn The Hardworking Sea Goat
Capricorn's are renowned for being hard workers and often seek demanding careers. Town doctor Harvey is a winter baby and workaholic, often expressing his worries for the townsfolk's health with the player. For this reason, Harvey's favorite gift is coffee: a bitter beverage for an ambitious Capricorn. He is one of the three older bachelors in Pelican Town, and if players choose to wed this sea-goat, they're likely to enjoy healthy, home-cooked meals.
7 Haley: Gemini The Twins
Similar to her friend and potential love interest Alex, Haley may come across as shallow (to begin with). However, she is inquisitive and creative at heart. Coming from a wealthy background, Haley initially judges the new farmer.
Players can catch a glimpse of Haley in Cindersap Forest, where she practices her photography skills in nature. Like the mutable sign of the twins, Haley's growing relationship with the player transforms her character from someone who is seemingly obsessed with malls and shopping to someone who values community and art.
6 Leah: Sagittarius The Adventurous Archer
Sagittarius is known as the explorer sign of the zodiac. Bachelorette Leah lives in a cottage by the river at the edge of Pelican Town, where she spends most of her time foraging or making sculptures from local wood. Leah enjoys the bounties of the valley in every season. Despite being talented, this artistic wanderer with fiery locks struggles to show her creations to the world. Her relationship with the player is centered around her growth in confidence and encouraging her inner archer to shoot for the stars.
5 Maru: The Caring Cancer
Cancers, the crabs of the zodiac, are caring and devoted. Maru, daughter of carpenter Robin and scientist Demetrius, spends her days helping out at the local clinic with Harvey or tinkering with gadgets and machinery. Another water sign, Cancers are sensitive and protective. If players decide to join Maru in holy matrimony, she'll craft useful items as gifts. These can be anything from different types of bombs to Warp Totems. However, beware. Because in return, this Pelican Town resident has expensive taste.
4 Penny: The Practical Virgo
Organized and humble, Virgos can sometimes come off as critical and stressed out. Friend of Maru, Penny is the daughter of ex-bus-driver Pam who struggles with alcohol addiction. While Pam enjoys her daily visit to the Saloon, Penny can be found in their small trailer, scrubbing away at dishes. Virgos are often seen as the clean-freaks of the zodiac. If she's not doing chores or reading, Penny tutors town kids Vincent and Jas, providing the youth of Pelican Town with a hopeful future.
3 Sam: Leo The Loyal Lion
The lion sign Leo is warm and loyal. Sam, with his mane of blonde hair, is a friendly skateboarder and guitarist with a love for Joja Cola. The name Sam can mean "sun-child," and the fire sign of Leo is ruled by the sun. He is happiest in summer when his allergies subside. However, somewhat spoilt by his mother, Sam awaits the return of his father, who has been away with the military for several years. He can often be found playing pool at the Stardrop Saloon, and he's always a good sport despite being beaten by best friend Sebastian every time.
2 Sebastian: The Rebellious Aquarius
Aquarius is the sign of the outsiders and rebels. Sebastian, with his emo fashion sense and dark bedroom in the basement, can be rather cold towards the player at first. He is the half-brother of Maru, who he feels is more loved by Robin and Demetrius than himself.
One of his favorite gifts is the Frozen Tear, found deep in the mines of Pelican Town. Aquarius may appear as loners, but they are simply more self-reliant than the majority of the zodiac, hence why Sebastian works at home as a freelance programmer.
1 Shane: Aries The Defensive Ram
The first sign in the zodiac, Aries is known for its fiery passion, which can often come across as plain aggression or impulsivity. Pelican Town's Shane is probably the rudest marriageable character, while also being the softest and kind-hearted at his core. As his relationship grows with the farmer, it becomes apparent that he is going through a difficult time in his life. The way to this defensive ram's heart is patience and pizza.
