Mash-ups and crossovers are very common in the world of geek culture. No matter how much two properties may seem different, a clever fan can always find a way to make something unique through mixing and matching genres.

With a sequel on the horizon, the popular '80s film Top Gun gets a fun mash-up with the iconic X-Wing starfighter from the ever-popular Star Wars franchise. The video includes the popular song Danger Zone by Kenny Loggins, a song synonymous with Top Gun's iconic flight scenes.

The video starts off with the iconic Death Star run from the original 1977 Star Wars film, before transitioning to scenes from other films in the Star Wars Saga, including Return of the Jedi, Rogue One, The Last Jedi and many others.

Seeing as the song was originally featured in a movie about flying planes, it seems to be a good fit for space battles inspired by aerial dogfights. The video's view count of nearly half a million hits at the time of this writing speaks to how perfectly the subject matter fits together.

Directed by Joseph Kosinski, from a screenplay by Peter Craig, Justin Marks and Eric Warren Singer, Top Gun: Maverick stars Tom Cruise, Jennifer Connelly, Val Kilmer, Ed Harris, Jon Hamm, Miles Teller, Glen Powell, Manny Jacinto, and more. The film is scheduled to be released on Dec. 23.
