Star Wars has been an extremely successful universe for over 40 years, consisting of movies, television shows, comic books, and so much more. While much of the credit goes to the characters and stories told, the franchise owes much of its success to the many planets presented in its various forms of media.

Though many of these iconic locations seem like intriguing places to visit, there are also some planets that have only a few redeeming qualities. Some of these hostile planets are reserved for scum and villainy, while others have bad weather or natural disasters, causing them to be almost inhospitable.

10 Excessive Crime, Murderous Creatures, & its Volcanic Nature Make Nevarro A Hostile Planet

Nevarro The Mandalorian

Making its debut appearance onscreen during the first episode of The Mandalorian, Nevarro is a volcanic planet located on the Outer Rim. While on this planet, the Mandalorian is commissioned by Greef Karga to complete the job of tracking down a 50-year-old target, later revealed to be Grogu.

The planet is also home to several bounty hunters and winged carnivorous creatures. While many notable events do take place on this planet, the excessive crime, murderous creatures, and the volcanic nature of the planet make Nevarro an unsavory place to live in.

9 The Poor Weather Conditions Of Kamino Do Not Attract Many New Visitors

Kamino Attack Of The Clones

The site where the clone army was created is a remote and aquatic planet. First seen in Attack of the Clones, Obi-Wan Kenobi observes Kamino's harsh planetary conditions while fighting with Jango Fett, such as the unrelenting rain.

The planet also lacks physical land to build on. Instead, the Kaminoans had to construct buildings atop the water using stilts. While the planet of Kamino does have some intriguing features, the birthplace of the legendary bounty hunter Boba Fett is not likely to be a good place to live in.

8 The Lack Of Natural Resources On Geonosis Is Not Ideal

Attack Of The Clones Geonosis

Showing up first in Attack of the Clones, Geonosis was the planet that hosted the battle at the end of the film during which Anakin's right hand was cut off by Count Dooku and would later be replaced with a robotic hand. This battle was regarded as the beginning of the Clone Wars.

Geonosis was made up of a warm desert climate with very little surface water. This planet was also where many battle droids were built. Despite being the site of an iconic battle, Geonosis is not a great place to live in.

7 Dagobah's Harsh Swamplands Make For An Unpleasant Home

The swamps of Dagobah where Yoda trained Luke Skywalker.

The swamp planet that Yoda fled to after the events of the prequel trilogy would be a less than ideal location to live in. The hot and secluded planet does not have much in the form of civilization, but it is full of unpredictable wildlife.

The isolation of the planet could be beneficial for training a Jedi, like Yoda does with Luke in The Empire Strikes Back and in Return of the Jedi, but the lonely nature of Dagobah would probably dissuade others from living there.

6 Corellia's Connection To The Empire Reduces Its Appeal

Solo: A Star Wars Story Corellia

The birthplace of Han Solo is perhaps one of the bleakest locations in the galaxy far, far away. Appearing for the first time onscreen in Solo: A Star Wars Story, the planet was used as a base for building spacecraft for the Galactic Empire. The parts of Corellia not actively under the control of the Empire were ruled by gangsters and thieves, like Lady Proxima.

Though his upbringing on this planet helped shape him into a hero of the Rebel Alliance, Han would be the first to tell you to leave Corellia.

5 Life In The Deserts Of Tatooine Has Very Few Positive Characteristics

Star Wars Tatooine sunset with the lars homestead

The iconic home planet of Anakin and Luke Skywalker earns a place on the list due to its desert landscape and lack of natural resources. In addition to the geographical problems with Tatooine, the planet is a center for criminal activity. The city of Mos Eisley in A New Hope painted a picture of this particular issue.

If that wasn't bad enough already, Tatooine serves as the home of Jabba the Hutt, whose palace is filled with dangerous bounty hunters and villains from across the galaxy. Also, the fear of being robbed by Jawas or Tusken Raiders does not help.

4 The Planet Of Jakku Has Limited Resources & Aggressive Temperatures

Jakku The Force Awakens

Speaking of desert planets, the wasteland of Jakku first appeared during The Force Awakens. Rey grew up on this planet as a scavenger working for the merciless junk boss of Unkar Plutt before joining the Resistance. Most of the inhabitants of Jakku were either scavengers or criminals.

With the similar terrain of Tatooine, Jakku suffers from high temperatures and limited resources. The sandy surface also makes farming and building much more difficult. Even Han Solo called Jakku a junkyard, and fans are inclined to agree with him.

3 Hoth's Extremely Low Temperatures Discourage People From Visiting

Hoth on Star Wars Biomes

After leaving Yavin 4, the ice planet of Hoth served as the new Rebel base and was chosen for its remoteness from the Empire. The Empire Strikes Back explored some of the dangerous elements on the planet, such as the freezing temperatures, snowstorms, and even an angry Wampa.

Even though the Rebels were able to regroup and hide from the Empire for a time on Hoth, the fact that Luke was nearly killed by the extreme weather on this planet should be a warning to others wishing to make it their permanent home.

2 Exegol's Terrain & Sith History Make The Planet Nearly Inhospitable

Star Wars Exegol

The setting of the final battle in The Rise of Skywalker was the dark and rocky planet of Exegol. As a stronghold for the Sith, the Empire, and the First Order, Exegol was the location where Emperor Palpatine created Supreme Leader Snoke, who was used to rule the First Order during The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi.

Even though Palpatine and the First Order were destroyed at the end of the film, the planet's bleak history as a Sith world in addition to the planet's unappealing nature could discourage people from wanting to live there.

1 Lava Helps To Make Mustafar The Worst Planet In The Galaxy

Star Wars Mustafar

The worst place to live in all of the Star Wars universe is most likely Mustafar. The planet is essentially one giant volcano with lava occupying most of the surface. Mustafar serves as the location of the battle between Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker in Revenge of the Sith, in which Anakin is severely burned by the lava.

Sometime after Revenge of the Sith and before Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Darth Vader returned to Mustafar and had a castle built for himself.
