The Jedi have long been known as guardians of peace and prosperity throughout the generations that have existed in the Star Wars universe. While they may not have the raw anger and strength of the Sith’s many exciting, flashily Force abilities, the Jedi have managed to master many incredibly powerful techniques, some of which are rarely seen on screen.
Beast Control
Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, and Ezra Bridger have all exhibited abilities to connect with animals and beasts through the Force, though, Ezra has perhaps the most dedication to the technique. Throughout Rebels, the young Jedi can be seen training animals such as lothcats as well as the massive purgill. During the Battle of Geonosis in Attack of The Clones, Anakin uses the ability to calm a reek in the Petranaki arena. In The Clone Wars, Obi-Wan uses this ability to lure a group of angry gutkurrs into a trap in the episode titled "Innocents of Ryloth."
Energy Absorption
Yoda can be seen using this technique to deflect Count Dooku’s force lightning during their climactic battle in Attack of the Clones. As Dooku begins to project his lightning at the wise Jedi, Yoda can be seen catching the attack of his former Padawan. The Daughter, a being who embodies the Light Side of the Force, can also be seen using this same ability in the episode “Altar of Mortis” from The Clone Wars.
Force Healing
Star Wars has officially made it canon that Jedi are able to heal people with their own life force, as seen in the seventh episode of The Mandalorian when The Child (Baby Yoda) heals Greef Karga (Carl Weathers). This power is teased briefly in episode two of the show’s first season, when The Child attempts to use the power to heal Mando after his encounter with the Jawas. Mando puts the small creature back in its pod before it can use the Force, but after Episode 7, it's clear that there is much more to Baby Yoda’s cute exterior than fans could have ever imagined. This power is further explored through The Rise of Skywalker, as both Rey and Ben Solo use the power on each other at different points in the film, with the latter bringing Rey back to life. Rey also uses the power earlier in the film to heal a large wounded creature, helping her and her friends escape an underground cave.
Force Speed
In order to escape some Droidekas at the beginning of The Phantom Menace, Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan use the Force to propel themselves forward at a greater speed than their bodies would normally allow. It also allows the user, generally a Jedi Knight or Master, to increase the speed of their reflexes, as demonstrated by Anakin in the episode of The Clone Wars titled “Defenders of Peace.” This power has been explored through many video games in the franchise, most recently allowing players in Jedi: Fallen Order to slow down Cal Kestis’ enemies and obstacles.
Morichro
The most uniquely-named power on this list, Morichro, earns its place as one of the most powerful Jedi techniques due to its raw strength and the limited amount of people who are allowed to use it. Master Yaddle is one of the only Jedi granted the opportunity to study and use the technique in the Order’s final years. It allows the user to slow down an opponent’s bodily functions to the point of death.
Time Travel
Rebels introduces time travel into the greater canon of the galaxy far, far away to an effective degree. Ezra Bridger uses the great nexus of the Force, the World Between Worlds, at a Jedi temple on Lothal to travel through time in order to save Ahsoka Tano from a battle with the Sith Lord Darth Vader, her former Master. Unfortunately, it is unlikely that such a thing will be used again in any Star Wars canon post-Rebels, as the temple collapsed upon Ezra and Ahsoka’s exit. The technique is also mentioned in the texts Rey studies in The Rise of Skywalker.
If this list is indicative of anything, it’s the ability of the Star Wars canon to continually introduce new ideas into its pantheon. While it is certain that George Lucas could not have foreseen somebody writing time travel into his fictional universe nearly forty years after the release of the original film, the canon is made all the more robust by its inclusion. The same can be said for every power listed here.
