A series of fan-made posters have given Star Wars the What If...? treatment, exploring the results of an alternate timeline in which Obi-Wan Kenobi and Ahsoka Tano turned to the Dark Side with Anakin Skywalker.

Since the first season of What If...? launched on Disney+, Marvel's animated streaming series sparked the imagination of fans across franchises. Inspired by the Marvel Comics anthology launched in 1977, What If...? explores alternate timelines that show what would've happened if key moments in the Marvel Cinematic Universe played out differently. This concept since inspired viewers to speculate about alternate versions of their other favorite stories. Specifically, many viewers have argued that Star Wars deserves a What If...? of its own and a set of fan-made posters from the digital creator Render Driver has shown what one episode could look like.

The Skywalker Saga is replete with opportunities to create interesting What If...? scenarios, many of which come from the major turning points of Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. The third Star Wars prequel sees Anakin Skywalker transition from Jedi Knight to Sith Lord in a sequence of events that could easily have occurred differently. While some viewers have called for a happier version of the story, Render Driver chose to go darker. The fan-made posters for the conceptual What If...? episode shows what could have happened if Anakin's master and apprentice joined him in his turn to evil.

In the fan edits, Obi-Wan wears the uniform of a high-ranking military commander in the Galactic Empire, and Ahsoka wears the armor of a Sith Inquisitor. Notably, Darth Vader is unmarred by the damage inflicted by the lava of Mustafar, implying the climactic duel between him and his master at the end of Episode III either had a different result or never occurred at all.

This conceptual Star Wars What If...? episode dreamed up by Render Driver would have plenty of compelling stories to tell. Its plot could show audiences what it would have taken to turn Obi-Wan and Ahsoka to the Dark Side. It could also dig deep into the terrifying prospect of an even more powerful Galactic Empire, its influence enforced by not one but three of the most powerful Jedi in the galaxy.

Following the conclusion of the series' first season, many of the calls for Star Wars crossovers were fueled by the show's creators. The season's eighth episode, titled What If...Ultron Won?, briefly sent The Watcher and Ultron into the Mustafar system, theoretically tying the Star Wars timeline into Marvel's ever-expanding multiverse. Head writer A.C. Bradley also confirmed he initially wanted to make a bigger Marvel/Star Wars crossover happen, possibly by bringing Luke Skywalker into the Avengers.
