The following contains spoilers for Star Wars: Visions, Season 2, Episode 7, "The Bandits of Golak," now streaming on Disney+.

Star Wars: Visions has returned to Disney+ with a second volume of animated stories set outside the official Star Wars canon. Season 2 of Visions assembles animation houses from all over the world to deliver fresh takes on the galaxy far, far away. While these animated shorts may not be considered canon, they are still richly populated with Easter eggs and references to Star Wars' official continuity. Recognizable characters and designs from the films are seen throughout the anthology series, but 88 Pictures' "The Bandits of Golak" also draws inspiration from other Star Wars animated series.

In addition to featuring an original Inquisitor, one of the Empire's Jedi hunters first introduced in Star Wars Rebels, "The Bandits of Golak" pays homage to Star Wars: The Clone Wars. At two separate points, the episode references one of the series' most memorable original Jedi characters -- the elder Jedi Master Tera Sinube. First introduced in the episode "Lightsaber Lost," Sinube was a Cosian Jedi Master who helped Ahsoka Tano recover her stolen lightsaber while teaching her the value of patience.

"The Bandits of Golak" follows brother-sister duo Charuk and Rani, the latter and younger of whom is Force-sensitive, as they attempt to escape the clutches of the Empire. The episode opens with the siblings on a train, where they have a brief run-in with some Stormtroopers. As he flees these Imperial troops, Charuk passes a few Cosians -- members of Tera Sinube's species. Interestingly, these Cosians appear to be very deliberately identical to Sinube. They wear the same hairstyle, have the same facial markings and even don the same Jedi robes. It looks like Sinube himself has been used as a model for these fleeting background characters.

In addition to these background cameos from Tera Sinube/his lookalikes, the episode also includes a nod to the Jedi Master's distinctive lightsaber. As an elderly Jedi, Sinube walked with a cane, but at the end of "Lightsaber Lost," this was revealed to secretly house his lightsaber. Towards the end of Star Wars: Visions' "The Bandits of Golak," the elderly Rugal is revealed to be a Jedi in hiding. She too walks with a cane, which she separates into two lightsabers in order to fend off the Inquisitor, echoing Tera Sinube's lightsaber cane.

Tera Sinube, Ahsoka and Rani's Jedi Path

Ahsoka Tano Meets Tera Sinube in Star Wars: The Clone Wars

Tera Sinube is a fitting choice of a Jedi Master for "The Bandits of Golak" to reference. Not only is the episode visually closer to Clone Wars than any other Star Wars: Visions installment (meaning Sinube's Clone Wars design blends in seamlessly here), but the Cosian Jedi Master's role as a mentor to Ahsoka Tano serves as a poignant parallel to Rugal's interactions with Rani.

"Lightsaber Lost" takes place when Ahsoka is younger, brash and reckless. As Sinube helps her recover her lightsaber, he teaches her the importance of patience and of slowing down in order to see the way ahead more clearly. It is an important lesson for Ahsoka, who emerges a wiser Jedi because of her experiences with Tera Sinube. Star Wars: Visions' Rani is similarly careless, using her Force abilities to amuse herself with little regard for the consequences of her actions. Rugal follows in Sinube's footsteps as the wiser, elder Jedi who will teach Rani how to properly conduct herself as a Jedi.
