The second volume of Disney+'s Star Wars: Visions received an official release window.

Lucasfilm has officially confirmed Volume 2 of Star Wars: Visions. It was announced during Star Wars Celebration 2022 that Volume 2 of Visions will be available to stream on Disney+ in spring 2023. The second installment will showcase a variety of animation styles from all over the world, including those from South Africa, the United Kingdom, Chile, the United States, Spain, France, India and Japan.

Visions' official release window was confirmed following reports that the second installment would release sometime in 2022. Volume 1 premiered on Disney+ in the fall of 2022 and combined anime and Star Wars with nine distinct episodes, each created and animated by seven different Japanese studios.

Each story not only boasted its own animation style but existed outside of the main Star Wars canon. In an August 2021 interview, executive producer James Waugh explained that there were no plans at the time to incorporate Visions into the larger Star Wars timeline. "That's right -- every piece of Star Wars influences future Star Wars storytellers in some form or the other," Waugh said. "So are there plans to integrate Visions into the timeline saga storytelling? Not currently, but I have no doubt that we will see things that were in Visions become part of the fabric of Star Wars over the next decades."

Waugh has also expressed hope that Visions could open the door to more stories based outside of the main Star Wars canon. "So much of the stuff you see in Visions… the specificity of anime as a medium justifies a lot of the storytelling," he said. "So do I think we could do more non-timeline storytelling? I think under the Visions framework, absolutely."

Visions has received a positive response overall from critics and fans alike. According to Waugh, the possibility of a second installment largely depended on the response to Volume 1. "I think we would love to do more Star Wars: Visions, we'll have to assess the reaction and what the fandom wants," Waugh said in 2021 about the possibility of creating more shorts for Visions. "[Producer Kanako Shirasaki] and I are probably incredibly biased; we love these shorts and really do think that this is such a great framing for Star Wars."

Star Wars: Visions Volume 2 will be available to stream on Disney+ in spring 2023 and does not yet have an official release date.
