Star Wars: Visions, Disney+'s upcoming Star Wars anime anthology series, is quickly nearing its Sept. 22 release date. And as it turns out, the series' runtimes will vary considerably from episode to episode.
After receiving a screener for Star Wars: Visions, entertainment journalist Adam Frazier confirmed on Twitter that the series' episodes range from 13 minutes to 22 minutes in length. Frazier also revealed that the series, which consists of nine episodes -- or, more accurately, nine short films -- runs for a grand total of roughly two and a half hours.
Announced late last year at Disney Investor Day 2020, Star Wars: Visions unites numerous creators from the world of anime for a collection of short films inspired by the Star Wars mythology. The series was originally announced to consist of 10 such films. However, one of the short films, coincidentally titled The Ninth Jedi, actually began life as two separate films before being merged into one grand project, thus bringing the episode count to nine.
Each short film is helmed by a different director, with a number of renowned anime studios being tapped to bring the series to life. Kamikaze Douga, Kinema Citrus and Production I.G animate one short film each (with Production I.G specifically helming the aforementioned Ninth Jedi). Meanwhile, Studio Trigger and Science SARU animate two short films each. Twin Engine also animates two films, one through Geno Studio and the other through Studio Colorido.
Star Wars: Visions debuts all nine of its short films Wednesday, Sept. 22 on Disney+.
