With the release of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker inching closer every day, fans are eagerly anticipating the closing chapter of the saga's modern trilogy, speculating about what twists and turns could occur as the opus comes to its conclusion. According to one of the movie's stars, Richard E. Grant, the film features a character plot twist that he didn't see coming.

When asked if any moments would surprise Star Wars fans, Grant told Yahoo! Entertainment, "The big character plot twist that I had no idea would be coming. It made total emotional sense and story sense and I thought that was really smart. And I think that's an incredible thing to take something that began with the first movie in 1977 [Star Wars: A New Hope] and nine movies later reach a conclusion/resolution."

With a long-running history for such a celebrated franchise, Grant is well aware that the resolution runs the risk of not living up to everybody's expectations. For him, however, as a self-confessed four-decade-long fan, he believes they have managed to create a satisfying end.

"It runs the risk of the Game of Thrones syndrome, where there's no way you can please all the people all the time, because people are so emotionally invested in this story," Grant continued. "The movie that they're going to see may not be the movie they have in their heads to see. But for a four decade-long fan as I am, I thought it pulled off that feat incredibly."
