Johnson directed the last movie in the main series, The Last Jedi, which was one of several films infamously met with fan controversy and subject to review-bombing. At one point, he was slated to direct another Star Wars trilogy of some sort, but news on the status of that project has been up in the air for quite some time.

Johnson's next project is Knives Out, a satirical whodunnit starring Daniel Craig, Chris Evans, Lakeith Stanfield, Michael Shannon, Don Johnson, Ana de Armas, Jamie Lee Curtis, Jaeden Martell, Katherine Langford, Frank Oz, Toni Collette, Christopher Plummer and Rikki Lindhome. The film is scheduled for release on Nov. 27.
