Disney has released the first extended TV spot for J.J. Abrams' highly anticipated Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, which is billed as the concluding chapter of the Skywalker saga that began in 1977's A New Hope.
The TV spot doesn't feature any new footage from the film. Instead, it serves as a truncated version of The Rise of Skywalker's D23 teaser, focusing on the duality between Rey and Kylo Ren and once again teasing the pair's fateful battle in the rain. The footage then ends with the mysterious shot of Rey seemingly aligned with the Dark Side, flipping open her double-bladed red lightsaber.
While the release of the film is still months away, fans won't have to wait long for more Star Wars hype: in just a few short weeks, The Rise of Skywalker toys, collectibles and merchandise will hit store shelves on Triple Force Friday, Oct. 4.
Directed and co-written by J.J. Abrams, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker stars Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Kelly Marie Tran, Joonas Suotamo, Billie Lourd, Keri Russell, Matt Smith, Anthony Daniels, Mark Hamill, Billy Dee Williams and Carrie Fisher, with Naomi Ackie and Richard E. Grant. The film arrives on Dec. 20.
