After more than four decades, the Skywalker Saga will come to an end with Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. That being said, it might surprise fans that director J.J Abrams admitted to being inexpert at finishing stories.

"I've never been great at endings," Abrams said. He added, "I don't actually think I'm good at anything, but I know how to begin a story. Ending a story is tough." That might seem like an understatement to some. It can be argued that the Star Wars film saga isn't simply a story; it has become part and parcel of contemporary culture.

Abrams knows that well, and that is exactly what compelled him to take on The Rise of Skywalker. The director stated, "Sticking this landing is one of the harder jobs that I could have taken... that was why it felt worthy of saying yes."

He certainly proved that he knows how to begin a story with the highly successful and widely praised The Force Awakens back in 2016, which grossed over $2 billion worldwide. In just a matter of days, audiences around the world will see if he stuck that landing when the concluding chapter in the iconic film saga hits theaters.

Directed and co-written by J.J. Abrams, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker stars Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Kelly Marie Tran, Joonas Suotamo, Billie Lourd, Keri Russell, Anthony Daniels, Mark Hamill, Billy Dee Williams and Carrie Fisher, with Naomi Ackie and Richard E. Grant. The film arrives December 20.
