Jon Favreau's live-action Star Wars series The Mandalorian may have wrapped filming this past February, but there is still very little we actually know about the highly anticipated series. Thankfully, over the last few months, creator and director Jon Favreau has revealed bits and pieces of information about the series on his Instagram page. For instance, he revealed that two fan-favorite droids would return in the Disney streaming service-bound series, A New Hope's R5-D4 and The Empire Strikes Back's IG-88.

Now, the director is at it again. On Thursday night, Favreau posted a new photo that appears to be taken in a recording booth during the series' post-production phase. But what's most notable is that writer, director and actor Taika Waititi is featured on the photo. Given the image of IG-88 on the screen and the presence of microphones, it seems likely that Waititi will be lending his voice to the fan-favorite bounty hunting robot.

Back in October, Lucasfilm announced that Waititi would be one of six directors helming episodes in The Mandalorian's first season. While an argument could be made that Waititi is featured on Favreau's picture for work on the episode he directed, the presence of microphones seems to indicate that the writer/director will also have a small part to play in the Star Wars series.

This wouldn't be the first time that Waititi lends his voice to a fan-favorite character. After all, he also voiced Korg in Thor: Ragnarok, a film he also directed. While Favreau offers no caption with his message, the image itself seems to offer all the information needed to deduce that Waitit will indeed be the voice of IG-88.

The Mandalorian is set to take place in-between The Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens, and stars Pedro Pascal as the title character. Much of the story is still shrouded in secrecy, but we might learn a whole lot more about the live-action series during this April's Star Wars Celebration. While no footage of the series has been released yet (save for a few official photos), the first trailer is expected to debut during the event.
