Disney Chief Executive Officer Bob Iger revealed Season 2 of The Mandalorian will premiere on Disney+ this October. The announcement was made during Disney's earnings call Tuesday afternoon.

Showrunner Jon Favreau previously revealed the Star Wars spinoff would return for a second season in the fall, providing the release window alongside the figure of what appears to be a Gamorrean, the pig-like species that provided security for Jabba the Hutt.

The Mandalorian became an instant hit for Disney+ when the streaming service launched in November of last year. The series stars Pedro Pascal as the titular Mandalorian, who goes on the run with The Child -- affectionately referred to as "Baby Yoda" -- placing a bounty on his own head. During their journey the Mandalorian and The Child make new allies while viewers learn more about the Mandalorian's past.

Giancarlo Esposito's Moff Gideon, who was an antagonist in the Season 1 finale, is reported to play a larger role in Season 2.

Created by Jon Favreau, The Mandalorian stars Pedro Pascal, Gina Carano, Carl Weathers, Giancarlo Esposito, Emily Swallow, Omid Abtahi, Werner Herzog and Nick Nolte. The entire first season is available to stream on Disney+. Season 2 will premiere in October.
