A fan-favorite bounty hunter will make its way to Jon Favreau's upcoming live-action Star Wars: The Mandalorian television series.

The image, which comes from Favreau's Instagram, clearly shows IG-88, confirming a rumor from earlier this month that the droid bounty hunter would appear on the show. That rumor indicated there was an IG assassin droid on set that had been referred to by name as IG-88, so -- even though Favreau doesn't explicitly call this droid IG-88 -- it's pretty safe to assume that's what it is.

Although IG-88 now seems officially confirmed, the rumor also posited that fellow bounty hunter Bossk would also make an appearance, which was not confirmed here. Both IG-88 and Bossk both debuted in 1980's The Empire Strikes Back. The two were among the group of bounty hunters enlisted by Darth Vader in Episode V to hunt down the Millennium Falcon and its crew. Ultimately, though, it was Boba Fett that managed to secure the payload.

It's unclear at this time how major of a role IG-88 will have in the series.
