Eagle-eyed fans may have noticed that something in the "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" teaser trailer seemed a bit ... off. Yes, Kylo Ren's facial scar has somehow moved since the events of 2015's "Star Wars: The Force Awakens." Is it due to a mysterious disturbance in the Force, a simple mistake, or something else?
It turns out it's the latter. Asked on Twitter about the change, writer/director Rian Johnson said it wasn't an oversight, but rather a deliberate choice. "It was my decision to slightly adjust it, and that was my justification," he wrote. "It honestly looked goofy running straight up the bridge of his nose."
This isn't the first time we've seen slight character revisions in "Star Wars," as Johnson to Emperor Palpatine's appearance in "The Empire Strike Back" differs significantly from later depictions.
Opening Dec. 15, "Star Wars: The Last Jedi," features returning cast members Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker, Carrie Fisher as General Leia Organa, Adam Driver as Kylo Ren, Daisy Ridley as Rey, John Boyega as Finn, Oscar Isaac as Poe Dameron, Lupita Nyong’o as Maz Kanata, Domhnall Gleeson as General Hux, Anthony Daniels as C-3P0, Gwendoline Christie as Captain Phasma and Andy Serkis as Supreme Leader Snoke, joined by franchise newcomers Kelly Marie Tran as Rose, and Benicio del Toro and Laura Dern in undisclosed roles.
