Young readers will soon get a chance to join their favorite Star Wars characters in an all-ages adventure. Disney's IDW Publishing will release a graphic novel adaptation of Star Wars: The Force Awakens aimed at the young adult demographic. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the book is a surprise release, coming ahead of the official fall launch of the publishing arm's Star Wars Adventures comic book, also geared towards younger readers.

The Star Wars: The Force Awakens comic book will be an 80-page trek back into the hit 2015 film. The adaptation, by author Alessandro Ferrari and featuring art from Disney artists, is supposed to act as the connective tissue between Star Wars and Disney animation. The comic book will be released this August.

The comic book could be seen as a teaser for IDW Publishing's monthly series Star Wars Adventures, which will debut this September with a story about Rey's life before she got caught up with Jedi and ex-Stormtroopers who call themselves a "pretty big deal." All of the Star Wars releases are part of Disney's Journey to Star Wars: The Last Jedi publishing program.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi, directed by Rian Johnson and starring Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher in her final performance as Princess Leia, will come to theaters December 15.
