Ahead of Disney's big D23 Expo this weekend in Anaheim, California, Lucasfilm has unleashed a torrent of new images from "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" sure to raise more questions than they answer.
Debuting in the latest issue of "Entertainment Weekly," which features Adam Driver's lighstaber-wielding Kylo Ren on its cover, the photos offer a familiar shot of Han Solo and Chewbecca, along with new looks at Daisy Ridley's Rey, John Boyega's Finn, Oscar Isaac's Poe Dameron, Domhnall Gleeson's General Hux, Gwendoline Christie's Captain Phasma, BB-8, and the returning Anthony Daniels as (a red-armed) C-3PO and Kenny Baker as R2-D2.
In the EW cover story, director J.J. Abrams discusses the development of the film -- "there was no story in place" when he signed on -- and acknowledges it's still unclear just how much screen time will be devoted to Mark Hamill's Luke Skywalker and Carrie Fisher's Princess Leia. However, Harrison Ford's Han Solo is characterized as one of the leads. There's much more, including comments from co-writer Lawrence Kasdan and Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy, at the link.
"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" opens Dec. 18.
