WARNING: The following contains spoilers for the Star Wars: The Clone Wars Season 7 episode "Shattered," streaming now on Disney+.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story delivered one of the definitive Darth Vader scenes. Fans have always known that the villain was a fearsome Sith Lord, but in the original Star Wars trilogy, they never really got to see him in his prime. Rogue One rectified that by allowing Vader to cut loose like never before when the villain took out an entire squadron of Rebel soldiers inside a hallway, using both his lightsaber and his Force powers to kill anyone who stood in his way. The scene became an instant fan-favorite, and it still stands as one of the most epic moments in the Star Wars franchise.

The moment helped define Darth Vader as the threat we always imagined him to be. Now, Star Wars: The Clone Wars pays homage to this scene by allowing another Sith Lord to let loose: Darth Maul.

In the penultimate episode of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, "Shattered," Order 66 is enacted. The Clone Troopers are given the order to turn on the Jedi, and Ahsoka Tano finds herself under attack by those she once called friends. Trapped in a spaceship with every Clone hunting for her, Ahsoka only's hope for survival is Darth Maul. After their confrontation in "The Phantom Apprentice," Maul was defeated, locked up, and in transport to be taken back to the Jedi. However, the Clones' attack on Ahsoka changed everything.

Instead, she frees the renegade Sith Lord, whom the Clones also had orders to eliminate, hoping he will serve as a distraction while she attempts to rescue Rex and get out of this alive. While Maul and Ahsoka are enemies, these circumstances have made them reluctant allies. On the spaceship, they go off their separate ways, but both are now on the same side.

Before long, Darth Maul finds a squadron of Clone Troopers in a hallway -- and that is when the series offers a scene that recalls Vader's attack on the Rebels in Rogue One. The big difference here is that Maul has no lightsaber, which forces him to attack slower. Were he in possession of his double-bladed saber, he would have cut through the Clones in no time. However, without his signature weapon, Maul is forced to advance at a pace similar to Vader.

The Sith Lord uses the Force to bring up metal plates he can use as shields as he advances through the hallway. With his powers, he uses his surroundings to slice heads, hold his enemies in place and crush them. The Clone Troopers panic as Maul continues to advance is just like that of the Rebels when Darth Vader closed in on them. What's more, the scene also reaches the end of the hallway as a door closes. In the case of The Clone Wars, it ends with Maul pulling back a Clone, and making sure his arm is cut off by the doors.

Thanks to this scene, Darth Maul is able to cut loose in a different way. Without his saber, he only uses the Force to get rid of his enemies, and it reinforces just how menacing and dangerous of a villain he really is. The Rogue One scene became a highlight for Vader, and now The Clone Wars has delivered a signature Darth Maul moment.

Streaming on Disney+, the final season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars stars Matt Lanter as Anakin Skywalker, Ashley Eckstein as Ahsoka Tano, Dee Bradley Baker as Captain Rex and the clone troopers, James Arnold Taylor as Obi-Wan Kenobi, Katee Sackhoff as Bo-Katan and Sam Witwer as Maul. The series finale arrives on May 4.
