A former cast member has revealed why exactly Star Wars: The Clone Wars was canceled.

Daniel Logan, who played fan-favorite character Boba Fett on the series, was at London Comic-Con when he revealed why Disney canceled the animated series. “Disney, they canceled it, I think it was getting too graphic,” he explained. “Actually, it was getting really graphic. Boba was doing some really, really cool stuff. He started actually becoming a bounty hunter.”

Logan also revealed that the series' cancellation came as a surprise to the cast, saying, “We’d actually recorded seven episodes that didn’t get aired. So there was so many episodes that was coming up, and Boba was just doing some really cool stuff.”

Although the series was canceled by Cartoon Network in 2013 (following the acquisition of Lucasfilm by Disney) and the final season was aired on Netflix the following year, the creators of the series would go on to helm Star Wars: Rebels for Disney XD.

There’s a chance those episodes might be explored after all, though. Fans of the series received some good news earlier this year with the announcement that Star Wars: The Clone Wars will be coming back with new episodes sometime in 2019.
