STAR WARS EPISODE VIIIt looks like J.J. Abrams is set to direct "Star Wars Episode VII." Abrams is currently putting the finishing touches on "Star Trek Into Darkness" for its May release -- but most surprising to readers following the "Star Wars" director search is that Abrams said he passed on "Star Wars" some time ago.

"There were the very early conversations and I quickly said that because of my loyalty to 'Star Trek,' and also just being a fan, I wouldn't even want to be involved in the next version of those things," Abrams told Empire Magazine in December. "I declined any involvement very early on. I'd rather be in the audience not knowing what was coming, rather than being involved in the minutiae of making them."

It's certainly looking as though Abrams will be involved in the minutiae of "Star Wars" behind the director's chair for the film's target 2015 release.

THE AVENGERS 2MTV spoke with Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige about what to expect from Joss Whedon's "The Avengers" sequel that puts the cap on Phase Two of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

"It's still early days," Feige told MTV, "but I told [Whedon] after reading the first sketch outline he delivered -- and there's a lot of work still to do, he has to sit down and turn this into a movie -- but there are already seven things in there that are worth the price of admission alone."

Unfortunately, Feige couldn't reveal any of the seven things -- but noted some of them won't make sense until viewers see some of the other Phase Two films set to hit in the next few years.

SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FORSpeaking in multiple interviews with MTV, "Sin City: A Dame To Kill For" director Robert Rodriguez spoke about some of the new cast on the "Sin City" sequel, including Dennis Haysbert coming on to replace Michael Clarke Duncan as Manute.

"Dennis is going to bring his own thing to it but it's very much pays tribute to what Michael did and is very much in line with the role," Rodriguez told MTV. "He's such a fantastic actor and an amazing presence. He's really exciting to work with. I've been adding dialogue for him. It's so fun."

Rodriguez also spoke briefly about Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who was recently cast as new character Johnny.

"I think he's one of the hottest actors out there, especially in that age range right now," Rodriguez told MTV. "He's just always been fantastic and people love him, which is part of the reason why I wanted him for Johnny: he's very likable, he's somebody that you root for him right away."
