New set photos from The Acolyte have surfaced online, giving Star Wars fans their latest glimpse at Lucasfilm's upcoming High Republic Era-set Disney+ series.Shared by The Daily Mail, the images feature Squid Game's Lee Jung-jae and 1917's Dean-Charles Chapman sporting High Republic-era Jedi robes. They also feature who The Daily Mail claims to be Logan alum Dafne Keen -- though while Keen is confirmed to appear in The Acolyte, commenters on social media are skeptical that the picture is actually of her, given how different she looks. Nevertheless, the photos also offer a look at an unnamed actor playing what appears to be a female Zabrak and, perhaps most interestingly, a Wookiee character wearing what appear to be his own High Republic-era Jedi robes. This begs the question of if The High Republic fans can expect to see Burryaga Agaburry make the jump to live-action in The Acolyte.RELATED: Star Wars: The Acolyte Set Pictures Seemingly Reveal an Andor-Inspired Location

Who Is The High Republic's Wookiee Jedi?

The Jedi Padawan of Master Nib Assek, Burryaga Agaburry was a Wookiee member of the Jedi Order during the High Republic Era. Burryaga Agaburry was introduced to Star Wars canon in Charles Soule's novel The High Republic: Light of the Jedi, which launched in January 2021 to kick off Lucasfilm's Star Wars: The High Republic publishing initiative. Burryaga Agaburry was missing and presumed dead as of the events of Claudia Gray's 2022 novel The High Republic: The Fallen Star. Notably, though, the Star Wars franchise is certainly no stranger to bringing back characters who were though to have died off-screen (or, off-page, in this case).

That said, The Fallen Star takes place in 230 BBY, 198 years before the events of the film Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace. In contrast, The Acolyte takes place during the waning days of the High Republic Era, only about 80 to 100 years before The Phantom Menace. However, Wookiees are known for their long lifespans, with fan-favorite Chewbacca, for instance, being approximately 235 years old as of the events of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Still, it remains to be seen if The Acolyte's apparent Wookiee Jedi is indeed Burryaga Agaburry, or perhaps a new character entirely.

Star Wars: The Acolyte Is in Production for Disney+

Announced in December 2020 during The Walt Disney Company's Investor Day, The Acolyte was initially described as a "mystery-thriller that will take the audience into a galaxy of shadowy secrets and emerging dark side powers." A more recent synopsis explains that the series follows "a former Padawan [who] reunites with her Jedi Master to investigate a series of crimes," uncovering a greater conspiracy in the process.

The Acolyte is led by Amandla Stenberg, who is joined by the aforementioned Lee, Keen and Chapman, as well as Manny Jacinto, Jodie Turner-Smith, Rebecca Henderson, Charlie Barnett and Carrie-Anne Moss. The Star Wars series is slated to consist of eight episodes, though currently lacks a Disney+ premiere date. Production began in the United Kingdom this past October.
