Lucasfilm executive Rayne Roberts has officially boarded The Acolyte, one of the numerous new Star Wars projects currently in the works for the Disney+ streaming platform. Roberts will co-develop The Acolyte alongside series creator Leslye Headland.

Per Roberts' profile on Lucasfilm's website, "Rayne is currently focused on developing new films for Lucasfilm's theatrical slate, and is also co-developing the upcoming Leslye Headland-created Star Wars series for Disney+." Roberts' profile chronicles her other work with Lucasfilm, including being "instrumental in the development and production" of such Star Wars films as The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi, The Rise of Skywalker, Rogue One and Solo. She also worked on the animated series Star Wars Rebels.

Set during the final days of the High Republic era, The Acolyte is described as a "mystery-thriller that will take the audience into a galaxy of shadowy secrets and emerging dark side powers." The series was officially announced earlier this month as part of Disney Investor Day 2020, with Russian Doll co-creator Headland serving as showrunner.

The Acolyte is currently in development for Disney+ from Leslye Headland and Rayne Roberts. The Star Wars television series does not have a release date.
