Disney+ Star Wars show The Acolyte counts House of the Dragon's Charmaine DeGraté among its line-up of writing talent, if a recent report is to be believed.

DeGraté wrote one or more episodes of The Acolyte and also serves as one of its co-executive producers, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The Star Wars series is one of several high-profile gigs DeGraté is linked to, including Prime Video's Daisy Jones & the Six and Atlantis, a feature film helmed by Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow. That said, neither Lucasfilm nor Disney+ have publicly confirmed DeGraté's involvement in The Acolyte, so this report should be taken with a grain of salt for now.

The Acolyte is one of Disney+'s most eagerly-awaited Star Wars shows, partly due to its High Republic-era setting. This positions the events of The Acolyte roughly 100 years before those of Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, which is a time period not previously explored in a live-action movie or TV series. According to Lucasfilm's official synopsis, the High Republic era will serve as the backdrop for a mystery thriller in which a Jedi Knight and her former master embark on an investigation that unearths a threat to the galaxy itself. Star Dafne Keen has since hinted at the nature of this threat, revealing that The Acolyte will explain "how the Sith infiltrated the Jedi."

The Acolyte Set Photos Surface Online

Little else is known about The Acolyte's plot, although unofficial behind-the-scenes images from the production continue to surface online. These include photos of a nearly-complete set that bears a strong resemblance to Ferrix, a location previously introduced in another Star Wars show, Andor. There's no word at this stage on whether this is a coincidence or if Ferrix will indeed appear in The Acolyte, though. Snaps of stars Lee Jung-jae and Charles Chapman in Jedi robes are also currently doing the rounds, as is a photo of an unnamed cast member apparently dressed as a Wookiee Jedi.

These images and others like them continue to stoke anticipation for The Acolyte, and recent comments by the Star Wars sequel trilogy's Daisy Ridley haven't hurt, either. In a recent interview, Ridley confirmed that she's heard positive buzz about the series from a source close to the production. "I sat next to someone at the Wakanda Forever premiere, an executive, and they said [The Acolyte] is amazing," she said.

The Acolyte is set to premiere on Disney+ sometime in late 2023.
