The long-rumored Star Wars TV series Tales of the Jedi has seemingly been revealed ahead of schedule.

The unexpected confirmation came via a Star Wars Celebration 2022 panel listing shared on Twitter. Fittingly enough, the panel is titled "Tales of the Jedi" and will cover the key details of the show, which is apparently an animated anthology series. Star Wars author Amy Ratcliffe will host the presentation, joined by special guest (and The Mandalorian executive producer) Dave Filoni. Lucasfilm has yet to officially comment on Tales of the Jedi at this stage.

Long-time Star Wars fans will recognize Tales of the Jedi as the name of a number of comic book series published by Dark Horse Comics between 1993 and 1998. No longer part of the official canon, the comics were set thousands of years before the events of Star Wars: A New Hope. Tales of the Jedi would later inspire BioWare's acclaimed role-playing game Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, its direct sequel The Sith Lords, and its spinoff, the MMORPG Star Wars: The Old Republic. It's unclear whether the Tales of the Jedi TV show will adapt stories from either the comics or video games.

Rumors of a Tales of the Jedi series started in December 2021 after photos of Lucasfilm's Christmas gift to employees surfaced online. The gift, a portable Lucasfilm-branded record player, was packaged in a box bearing the logos of several of the production company's upcoming projects, including Tales of the Jedi. Nothing else was known about the series' premise or format at the time. The buzz surrounding the series largely subsided until April 2022, when a new insider report emerged claiming that Lucasfilm would officially announce Tales of the Jedi at Star Wars Celebration 2022.
