Star Wars has revealed an official poster for the upcoming animated anthology series Tales of the Jedi, which is slated to drop on Disney+ later this month.

Shared to the official Star Wars Twitter account, the poster features Ahsoka Tano and a young Count Dooku front and center. Surrounding them are the likes of Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Bail Organa, Mace Windu, a young Qui-Gon Jinn, Tales of the Jedi's mysterious new Inquisitor and even Yaddle, the latter of whom has her lightsaber drawn, no less.

Who Is Yaddle?

Arguably the biggest story heading into Tales of the Jedi is the fact that Liam Neeson will be reprising his role as Qui-Gon Jinn, with the actor's son, Micheál Richardson, set to voice a younger version of the character. That said, another character featured in Tales of the Jedi who has gotten fans talking is none other than Yaddle.

A female member of the mysterious species that Master Yoda and Grogu also belong to, Yaddle made her first appearance in the 1999 film Star Wars: Episode 1 - The Phantom Menace. Despite being a Jedi Master and a member of the Jedi High Council, however, Yaddle has been virtually absent from the franchise since then. Tales of the Jedi is set to mark her first on-screen appearance since The Phantom Menace hit theaters 23 years ago. Moreover, the animated series' official trailer appears to show Yaddle preparing to do battle with then-Jedi Master Count Dooku, before he became the Sith Lord known as Darth Tyranus.

Notably, there is a canonical explanation for Yaddle's decades-long absence from screens. Per the 2015 reference book Ultimate Star Wars, Yaddle decided to take a less active role in Jedi affairs following the events of The Phantom Menace. 2017's Star Wars: The Visual Encyclopedia further explains that she left the Council sometime before the outbreak of the Clone Wars. In 2002's Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones, which is set 10 years after the events fo The Phantom Menace, Yaddle's seat on the Council is occupied by Shaak Ti. Star Wars Legends material explains that Yaddle actually died before Attack of the Clones, though this explanation is no longer canon.

Despite her relative obscurity, Yaddle is not without her fans. During the second season of Disney+'s live-action Star Wars series The Mandalorian in 2020, the aforementioned Ahsoka Tano neglected to mention Yaddle while discussing the race Grogu belongs to, only mentioning Yoda. As a result, the hashtag #JusticeForYaddle began trending on Twitter.
