WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Star Wars: Visions Episode 3, “The Twins,” streaming now on Disney+.

In the galaxy far, far away, there is a distinguished lineage of apocalyptic superweapons. The Death Star, the Galaxy Gun, Starkiller Base and, in Star Wars: Visions Episode 3, "The Twins," the Hyper Cannon, which is prepared to fire up and doom a rebellious star system or two. However, this is not the most frightening weapon within this 18 minutes of anime super action.

The Darkside Twins, Master Am and Master Karre, were bio-engineered to serve the fear-fed darkness of the Force. As such, they are equipped with nightmarish engines of war to fulfill their destiny. Master Karre, or Dark Luke, wields a lightsaber more powerful than anything seen before in the Inner or Outer Rim.

From the outset, it is important to note that this episode, more than any of the nine represented, is the most tongue in cheek in terms of displays of power, so there is a lot of grace to dismiss much of what is demonstrated. Aside from the unprecedented and ludicrous amount of energy at Karre's command, there are also abilities that he and his sister demonstrate that fly so far afield from other characters in and out of canon that any comparison is almost farcical.

They are each capable of functioning perfectly fine in the naked void of space without air or pressurized suits, with a nod toward caricature because, at episode's end, a droid is wearing a breathing helmet in space while rescuing Master Am, who clearly doesn't need one. They can will gravity to operate normally around them in a zero-gravity environment, and Karre can nonchalantly stand astride an X-wing as it vaults into hyperspace.

With all aforementioned caveats intact, Dark Luke's lightsaber is a noteworthy heir to the archive of armageddon weapons. In Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, kyber crystals were introduced into the film franchise for the first time. Though unmentioned in previous theatrical releases, these crystals are what power Sith and Jedi lightsabers. Rogue One illustrates that these gems also power the Death Star. The unique double Star Destroyer in "The Twins" is also powered by a kyber crystal that refines dark energy and infuses it into the siblings' prototype dark armor. Master Am, Dark Leia, at one point attaches a crystal fragment directly to her armor, and the power overloads her suit, bringing her to the edge of death. Karre takes a smaller crystal shared, ejects the crimson kyber in his saber and replaces it with the one meant to power his Death Star-like ship so that he can save his sister from the fate he's seen in his visions.

Essentially, he equips his lightsaber with a splinter of the Death Star's power. There have been instances where lightsabers have been rigged as bombs or overloaded because their energy output was too massive, but Karre handles the load without even the growling ferocity of Kylo Ren's volcanic blade. The result is a two-toned saber, indigo toward the hilt rising to a blue-white at the tip, like the spectrum of a setting sun approaching the dawn. The blade can extend far enough to sear a Star Destroyer from top to bottom, leaving it cleaved into two neatly sheared mountains of floating metal.

There is a moment when he summons the blade's power through the Force, and it expands in a kaleidoscope of every known saber color before coalescing into a pure, broad beam. He exerts enough finesse and precision to completely shear the Star Destroyer, but he also gently pierces the shell of his sister's armor and the crystal therein, leaving her entirely unharmed in the same meticulous stroke. Perhaps his control of the Force, as previously described, allows him to channel a weapon akin to a pocket Death Star. Therefore,  Karre and his saber represent a Force adept apotheosis far beyond Grandmaster Luke Skywalker or any being in existence.
