Solo: A Star Wars Story lead Alden Ehrenreich has downplayed the idea of a movie sequel. However, he did tease his potential return to the galaxy far, far away.

Speaking to Esquire, Ehrenreich was asked about the possibility of Solo 2 and explained, "No, I don't know anything about that. I mean, you know, I think our movie was kind of the last of the conventional-era Star Wars movie release time." As for Star Wars in general, though, he said, "I've heard soooome stuff, but nothing concrete."

News of a Han Solo movie first started making the rounds in 2012 after George Lucas' planned Star Wars: Underworld series fell through. The director's canned live-action series was going to feature the first meeting between Han and Chewbacca, as well as explaining how he came to win the Millennium Falcon from Lando Calrissian. While Harrison Ford became synonymous with playing Han Solo thanks to his long-running role in Skywalker Saga, Ehrenreich was cast for Disney's anthology origin story.

Solo was plagued by problems from the very start. As well as a reported dispute between original directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller and the studio tapping Ron Howard taking over, there was a major overhaul of the tone, and Howard reshot around 70% of the movie. That said, Solo gained a loyal following and has generally favorable reviews on review aggregator sites, despite its $392.92 worldwide box office haul.

Moreover, Ehrenreich's original contract was slated to include three movies, meaning Disney could pursue a potential two Solo sequels or have young Han appear elsewhere in the franchise. It's currently unclear whether this still stands.
