Now that Star Wars Episode IX: Rise of the Skywalker has come and gone from theaters, fans have been looking ahead to the future of the Star Wars franchise. One element that has been key in the franchise’s future has been television shows on the new Disney+ streaming services.

From The Mandalorian live-action series becoming an instant hit to the return of the hit animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars, the service has become the perfect home to the series. With that in mind, let us take a close look at ten characters and storylines that would make great shows on Disney+.

10 Boba Fett

The first character who deserves a special spotlight on a Disney+ show is Boba Fett. The Star Wars universe’s most popular bounty hunter (until the Mandalorian premiered), the sad reality of this amazing character is that he only had a brief period of time in the original trilogy of films.

He was last seen being eaten by the desert monster outside Jabba’s palace known as the Sarlacc. However many have speculated his survival over the years. This means he could either gain his own prequel series on the service or possibly even appear in future seasons of The Mandalorian show.

9 Darth Bane

One powerful Sith Lord who would be great as a part of the Star Wars universe on Disney+ is Darth Bane. Living a millennium before the rise of Darth Vader and Emperor Palpatine, Bane was an all-powerful Sith Lord who was notorious for being the one who created the Rule of 2, which was a law for the Sith stating that only a Sith Master and his apprentice could rule at one time.

This would be an interesting backstory and history to explore in the canon side of the universe. Aside from the non-canon storylines, Bane has only appeared as a ghost in Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series.

8 The Great Hyperspace War

In order to find some prime storytelling material for the Star Wars universes plans for Disney+ series, one must dive into the long-standing history and lore of the Star Wars universe created over the years. One great moment in history set about 5,000 years before the battle of Yavin 4 that would be a great series is The Great Hyperspace War.

A battle between the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire, an initial strike on the Republic causes widespread panic and destruction. However, the Republic regrouped and crushed the Sith Empire, and forced the Sith Lord Naga Sadow to exile himself to Yavin 4.

7 Star Wars: Dawn of the Jedi

One aspect that was truly fascinating about new franchise hero Rey’s journey in the recent trilogy of films was her growing knowledge and exploration of the history of the Jedi Order. In order to fully delve into this world of Star Wars, Disney+ should go back to the beginning of the entire Jedi Order with a series surrounding the comic series, Dawn of the Jedi.

Set at the beginning of the Jedi Order, the series followed the origins of the Jedi as a whole. It followed some unique characters like Shae Koda and Sek’nos Rath, who was ironically from a species known as the Sith (no relation to the Sith Empire).

6 The Sith War

One point in history that saw the Galactic Empire and the Jedi Order nearly defeated once before was the Great Sith War. During this time, several former Jedi became disillusioned with the state of the order and fell to the Dark Side, becoming powerful Sith Lords in the process. This even included a Jedi who went undercover to disrupt the Sith’s rise to power, only to be converted.

The Sith nearly conquered the entire Republic but were driven back to Yavin 4, where Sith Lord Exar Kan was defeated in combat and the Sith were driven to the point of destruction.

5 The Old Republic

One aspect of the Star Wars universe that feels like it is necessary for the continuation of the Star Wars franchise is to explore the Old Republic. Formed 25,000 years before the events of the original films, the Old Republic would showcase the formation of the Republic as a whole, as well as the integration of the Jedi into the Republic.

The series would interestingly showcase the politics and expansion of a galactic powerhouse in the universe, well before Palpatine’s corruption of that power. It could play out like the space version of Game of Thrones, with many powers vying for control at this time.

4 Star Wars: Aftermath

An area of Star Wars history that fans see to enjoy exploring right now is the point of time after the fall of Emperor Palpatine and Darth Vader. With the Mandalorian exploring the new galaxy as it adjusts to the changes made in the Empire’s fall, one series that would be interesting to explore would be Star Wars: Aftermath.

A newly formed Galactic Republic finds X-Wing pilot Wedge Antilles fighting a pocket of Imperial activity on a remote Outer Rim planet, as the Republic works to eliminate the revenants of the Empire altogether. The show could be a great way to introduce the new characters of this Post-Empire world.

3 Thrawn

One of Star Wars' greatest villains and characters overall that would be perfect in a live-action Disney+ setting would be Grand Admiral Thrawn. A powerful and cunning military leader, the humanoid, blue-skinned and red-eyed Admiral of the Empire is a member of the Chiss Ascendency and is one of the Emperor’s greatest weapons.

This character would be great to explore both during and after the fall of the Empire, from his brilliant yet cruel mind and strategy to his struggle between his loyalty to the Empire and loyalty to his people, and his role in the rise of the First Order as a whole.

2 Ahsoka

One character who deserves a live-action debut is Ahsoka Tano, the popular Jedi warrior and hero who got her debut in the series Star Wars: The Clone Wars. The character is a Togruta from the planet Shili and was once Anakin Skywalker’s Padawan in the Jedi Order during the Clone Wars.

During the show Star Wars Rebels, she was forced to fight her former master and nearly lost her life to him, but she was later saved. Her last known physical appearance showed her going to search for Ezra in the aftermath of the Empire’s demise, so exploring her final years would be great to see in a show.

1 Revan

One of the most popular characters of the days of the Old Republic that would be great to see play out in a live-action setting would be Revan. The protagonist of the first Knights of the Old Republic video game franchise and a lasting legacy in the Old Republic, Revan was a former Jedi turned Sith Lord during the Mandalorian Wars.

He returned (in canon) to the Jedi order and defeated his onetime ally turned apprentice, Darth Malak, but disappeared to stop an unknown threat afterward. His history and unknown actions in the Old Republic would make the perfect setting for a new series.
