Star Wars: Forces of Destiny was an series of animated shorts that highlighted the female characters of the Star Wars universe throughout all eras of the cinematic franchise. Characters such as Rey, Princess Leia, Ahsoka Tano and more were featured in brief adventures that widened the scope of the galaxy far, far away, and offered answers about certain mysteries that helped further define these fan-favorite characters.

On top of that, Forces of Destiny even allowed for certain characters that never met in the films or in other animated fares to finally interact with one another. For instance, Star Wars Rebels' Sabine Wren and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story's Jyn Erso once crossed paths.

In Season 1, Episode 13 titled "Accidental Allies," Sabine Wren was on Garel City, running away from Stormtroopers. The Mandalorian rebel has just gotten her hands on important intel -- a holo-map which she is tasked with delivering to Hera Syndulla and the rest of her crew. Sabine is jumping from rooftop to rooftop to get away, but she accidentally drops the holo-map in her attempts to get away.

The intel falls down on the ground where it's found by none other than Jyn Erso. In the prior seventh episode, "The Stranger," it had already been revealed that Jyn had visited the planet Garel before when she helped her Loth-cat evade the Empire. But what we didn't know is that she would meet Sabine six episodes later.

After picking up Sabine's holo-map, Jyn is also hunted by the Empire. As we know from Rogue One, Jyn is a seasoned fighter, so she makes quick work of the Stormtroopers who come after her. Eventually, more of them show up and they corner Jyn -- but thankfully, Sabine intervenes and cuts them off with a large container.

The two characters officially meet, and Sabine explains that she needs to recover this data, which is incredibly important in her mission. As for Jyn, she is her typical detached self. She may hate the Empire, but she's a loner first and foremost. Still, even she understands the need to protect people, which is why she gives the holo-map back to Sabine.

Sabine Wren and Jyn Erso are two characters that audiences never expected would meet up. After all, one has only existed in animated form thus far, while the other starred in a single live-action film that ended with her death. Still, both of them were active at the same time, in the era that briefly preceded the original Star Wars trilogy. And since both were essentially on the same side, it almost makes sense that they would eventually meet. It may be a brief team-up, but it makes the Star Wars universe and the Rebellion that much more connected.
