Rogue One writer Gary Whitta recently shared an image of original title suggestions for the Star Wars anthology film.

Whitta explained that he found the titles in an email while going through old material. Along with the eventual title, Rogue One, the other suggestions on the list included Rebellion, Shadow of the Death Star and hilariously The Rise of Whitta. "Still think they made the wrong choice," Whitta joked. "THE RISE OF WHITTA has such an epic ring to it." He also noted that Rogue One was a last-minute title suggestion.

One reason that Whitta suggested Rogue One over the other titles was the number of words in the title. In a follow-up tweet, he revealed that he wanted the title to differentiate the film from the nine Skywalker Saga films. "One argument I made in favor of ROGUE ONE as a title was that the saga films have titles that are three or four words long (true for all nine eventually)," Whitta said. "[So] a title comprised of only one or two words would help differentiate the first standalone movie."

Another look behind the scenes of Rogue One came recently from actor Mads Mikkelsen, who played Galen Erso, in the film. On the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Mikkelsen cleared up what went on during the film’s infamous reshoots, when Tony Gilroy was brought in to rewrite scenes and act as second-unit director. "At the end of the day, the changes that were in the film were not as dramatic as people talk about," he clarified. "It was tweaks, but obviously, if you do it while you're working it can be confusing."

Directed by Gareth Edwards, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story stars Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, Riz Ahmed, Jiang Wen and Forest Whitaker.
