The latest issue of Empire magazine doesn't appear to be taking its own name very seriously: it has six different covers, each one featuring a different character from the upcoming "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story", but they're all Rebels!

Fortunately, the magazine gives Imperial forces more of a chance inside with a new image of Director Orson Krennic, played by Ben Mendelssohn -- along with an interview with Mendelssohn, on playing the film's lead Imperial.

In the interview, the actor reveals that there is some tension between Krennic and The Empire's favorite son Darth Vader, saying, "Lord Vader and he aren't friendly. Darth is very much about the Force. Krennic is force. Not really down with the whole mystical thing."

Mendelson goes on to echo "Rogue One" director Gareth Edwards' assessment that Krennic is a working class Imperial, saying "He is truly a man that has made his own way up the chain through his own abilities. His weapon, for instance, is a very old type of blaster, because he's an old warrior dude. He’s been put in charge of making this thing happen. And it's gonna get done!"

A forceful personality, disagreements with Darth Vader and no appearances in later "Star Wars" films? "Rogue One" is not even out yet and already things look bad for Director Krennic.

Directed by Gareth Edwards from a script by Gary Whitta and Chris Weitz, “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” stars Felicity Jones, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, Donnie Yen, Forest Whitaker, Diego Luna and Riz Ahmed and opens on Dec. 15 in the UK and Dec. 16 in North America.
