After first teasing their introduction in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the Knights of Ren are confirmed to make their full appearance in The Rise of Skywalker.

An extensive feature of the film in Vanity Fair included a behind-the-scenes photo of the villainous group on-set in Jordan, with filmmaker J.J. Abrams directing them between scenes.

The group was revealed to have been formed by Kylo Ren after he betrayed Luke Skywalker and killed his fellow Jedi apprentices, burning the Jedi temple to the ground in a brief flashback during The Force Awakens.

Absent during The Last Jedi, the group will return in the upcoming sequel, though a clip from the film's first trailer seemingly revealed Kylo leading First Order Stormtroopers in a fight against the Knights of Ren in a red-hued world.
