Rose Tico has quickly become a prominent character in the Star Wars sequel trilogy. Director J.J Abrams has said in the past that the casting of Kelly Marie Tran as Rose was one of Rian Johnson's greatest contributions to the trilogy. It's no wonder then that the upcoming Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will see Rose playing a greater role in the Resistance.

That's according to Tran, who recently spoke to several media outlets about her role in the upcoming film. Rose has apparently been promoted from Resistance mechanic to something greater, "Rose was a new character who was in maintenance and she was not a huge part of the resistance. But now she's in the Resistance in a big way and it's very cool." The actress was largely vague about details, as is expected when it comes to all things Star Wars.

That being said, Tran did seem to hint at her involvement in some of the upcoming film's action scenes. "I had to learn everything that had to do with being in a war," she said, "I've never held a gun before. Things like that, that you don't even think about when you're watching this movie." She continued, explaining the amount of effort that goes into a production like this, "We don't shoot arrows off horses normally, so we have to learn every little thing. There's so much detail and so much work that goes into everything."

Directed and co-written by J.J. Abrams, Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker stars Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Anthony Daniels, Naomi Ackie, Domhnall Gleeson, Richard E. Grant, Lupita Nyong’o, Keri Russell, Joonas Suotamo, Kelly Marie Tran, with Ian McDiarmid and Billy Dee Williams. The film arrives on Dec. 20.
