In one month, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will not only provide a conclusion for the new trilogy that began in 2015's The Force Awakens but it will also serve as a final chapter to the Skywalker Saga that began with 1977's A New Hope.
Now, ahead of the film's release, Star Wars' Twitter has released a new poster that will be given away exclusively at Dolby Cinema theater screenings.
The poster features a lone X-Wing fighter, presumably Poe Dameron's, facing down an entire army of Star Destroyers.
This appears to tease the epic battle between the Resistance and the First Order that the film's trailers have already shown glimpses of. What's more, it echoes the constant theme of the rebels fighting against impossible odds in order to save the galaxy -- a theme that was brought to its very edge at the end of The Last Jedi.
Directed and co-written by J.J. Abrams, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker stars Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Kelly Marie Tran, Joonas Suotamo, Billie Lourd, Keri Russell, Anthony Daniels, Mark Hamill, Billy Dee Williams and Carrie Fisher, with Naomi Ackie and Richard E. Grant. The film arrives December 20.
