Star Wars: The Rise of Kylo Ren writer Charles Soule compared the Knights of Ren to a Force-wielding motorcycle gang.

"They can all use the Force, the dark side of the Force, to varying degrees," he told StarWars.com about the upcoming comic. "They're not as powerful as a Jedi or a Sith, but they use it when they fight... They have some sort of a code, like a motorcycle gang, but it's not elaborate. They're flexible."

After they made quite an impression as Kylo's bodyguards in The Force Awakens, the Knights of Ren did not appear in The Last Jedi. However, Soule and artist Will Sliney will shed more light on them in the upcoming four-issue miniseries. Soule revealed he was inspired by motorcycle gangs, classic Westerns and Samurai tales, and he is using all these influences as he maps out the group as scoundrels who are in the war for self-gain.

"Mostly they're just kind of out to live their lives the way they want to live them and take what the galaxy will give them and eat what the Dark Side sends," Soule explained, for readers eager to see if this book will tie-in to when the Knights eventually return to action in The Rise of Skywalker.
