Star Wars Legends showcased many amazing characters who did not get a chance to shine in the films, including the Jedi Master Quinlan Vos. Operating in the field far from Coruscant, Vos was one of the most important Jedi during the Clone Wars. Despite this, many fans have never heard of him.

While most of the Jedi served as generals leading the Republic's armies into battle, Vos infiltrated the criminal underworld, and even entered into Count Dooku's inner circle. Despite this, he was almost destroyed by one of the most adorable and harmless-looking villains in the entire galaxy.

Star Wars Republic. Aayala Secura and Tookarti

The villain in question was a Chadra-Fan information broker tied named Tookarti who first appeared in Star Wars: Republic #49 by Jon Ostrander and Jan Duursema. He had ties to Vos's criminal operation, and like all Chadra-Fan, Tookarti looked a lot like a fruitbat with big eyes, a raised nose, and pointed ears. When the Jedi Aayla Secura sought out her old Master, who was operating under the pseudonym "Korto Vos," Tookarti led her through the sewers with the promise that he would take her to "Korto"--completely unaware of the history or true identities of the two Jedi. Tookarti tried to have Aayla killed in an ambush, but she easily dispatched the assassins. When she threatened the Chandra-Fan, he immediately agreed to really take her to Vos.

Here, Tookarti's cowardice and duplicitous nature were on full display, but he at least seemed to be working to protect Vos as part of his gang. However, after Aayla and Vos successfully stole intel from the Separatists, it was revealed that Tookarti was actually a double agent working for Count Dooku, helping the Republic agents to steal this information as part of a larger strategy.

Later, Vos was brokering a deal to sell Republic secrets--a mission approved by the Republic, who had provided him with old codes so that he could further infiltrate the Separatists' network--when the meeting was interrupted by Jedi Master Agen Kolar, who had been sent by the Jedi Council to bring Vos in. Master Kolar found new codes along with the old ones on Vos's person, something he had been tipped off about by Tookarti.

Star Wars Republic. Quinlan Vos and Tookarti

Vos realized that he had been betrayed and that the Chadra-Fan hoped to get him killed with this setup. He tried to explain the circumstances to Kolar, but the other Jedi refused to listen. After a prolonged fight in which Vos repeatedly insisted he was maintaining his cover to help the Jedi and the Republic, he finally managed to escape.

He confronted Tookarti and decapitated the Chadra-Fan--an act that was in blatant opposition to the Jedi code. Shortly after this, Quinlan infiltrated Dooku's Dark Jedi. Both the Sith Lord and the Jedi Council suspected that Quinlan Vos was really loyal to the other side, and for a long time, his allegiances were ambiguous, as he had spent so long operating in the shadows and with the dark side of the Force that even he began to waver.

But by the time of Revenge of the Sith, Vos was leading Republic armies into battle, showing that even after everything he had been through, he was still a Jedi at heart.
