Leia Organa Solo is one of the main characters of the now-Legends universe from Star Wars, as she was in the original trilogy. Many of the Legends storylines follow her own adventures throughout the galaxy, with her family, and as a political leader in the New Republic and many wars to come.

Leia also became a Jedi Knight during the Legends universe, much like was seen in Rise of Skywalker, and though she and her now-canon counterpart are incredibly different, there were a few similarities in storylines that align Leia in Legends and the new Disney canon.

10 Had Four Lightsabers

Leia With Lightsaber

Leia used four different lightsabers throughout her time as a Jedi. Her first saber was made by Luke Skywalker as a gift to Leia for being a new Jedi. It had a green blade, much like Luke's own. Eventually, the blade was used and lost by Mara Jade, which led Leia to her second saber. This one was yellow-bladed and she used it while fighting and defeating the Hutt Jedi, Beldorion. Her next saber was another gift from Luke and actually had a ruby-red blade, much like that of a Sith saber. Her final lightsaber was a blue-bladed saber that she ended up keeping as her own.

9 Palpatine Almost Takes Over Her Child

palpatine clone wars

Just like in Rise of Skywalker, Palpatine didn't stay dead for too long in the Legends Universe. After his death, the spirit of Palpatine once again returns shortly after Leia realizes she is pregnant with a third child. After Han Solo shoots and kills the final Palpatine clone, the spirit of the Sith Lord tries to place itself inside of the unborn child within Leia in order to have a new host and be born once again. However, Palpatine's plans were stopped once the Jedi Knight Empatojayos Brand sacrificed himself to save the child.

8 Had Three Children With Han

The Solos Legends

Han and Leia had three children with one another shortly after their wedding in 8 ABY. About a year after, Leia became pregnant with twins, Jacen and Jaina Solo who would later become some of the main characters of the Expanded Universe.

After this, about a year and a half later, Leia gave birth to a third child, Anakin Solo. She named Anakin after her and Luke's father—who she finally learned more about and grew to understand after a particular adventure on Tatooine.

7 The Dark Fate Of Her Sons

Jacen Solo besides Adam Driver's Kylo Ren from Star Wars.

Unfortunately for the Solos, both of her sons were wrought in tragedy. Anakin Solo sacrificed himself for the cause during the Yuuzhan Vong War, in 27 ABY. He did so in order to stop a Jedi-killing monster that was brutally murdering his people. After his death, Jacen Solo began to fall to the dark side, eventually becoming the new Sith Lord, Darth Caedus.

Leia and Han felt like their son was too far gone and couldn't be saved—very unlike how they felt with Ben still being somewhere within Kylo Ren. They felt like they had to be the ones to kill Darth Caedus to save the galaxy, but then Jaina Solo stepped up instead.

6 Almost Broke Up With Han

Before Han and Leia got married, the two actually almost broke up. A couple of years after the Battle of Endor, the two had slightly drifted apart. Leia was super busy with her political and newfound Jedi duty while Han continued to travel with Luke and help solve problems around the galaxy.

Things came to a head when Leia received an offer of engagement from another political head who showered her in gifts. The wedding would have been a tactically advantageous union for Leia and she considered it for a while before Han kidnapped her and managed to take her on an adventure that reminded both of them why they fell in love.

5 Trained by Luke & Saba Sebatyne

Luke Skywalker and Saba Sebatyne

Once Leia became a Jedi, she was trained by Luke Skywalker himself, much like how she was in the flashback sequences for The Rise of Skywalker. But Luke wasn't the only Jedi to train Leia. Once he found more Jedi like himself, Leia's new master became Saba Sebatyne of the New Jedi Order. Saba was not only a Jedi Master, she also sat on the Jedi High Council and had a number of different apprentices in the new order.

4 Became A Jedi Knight

Leia Legends Star Wars

After the Swarm War, Saba Sebatyne declared Leia to be a fully-fledged Jedi Knight due to the skills and dedication she showed during the war itself. Leia would go on to use her new abilities and masteries in the years to come as the Second Galactic Civil War loomed overhead and was about to begin just as the Swarm War ended.

Saba watched as Leia fought against Dark Jedi Alema Rar, and after the Dark Jedi's defeat, Saba took Leia's old saber. She then told Leia she had outgrown the saber and to make one herself that would be more fitting for her new skills. Leia continues to train under Saba for four more years as a Jedi Knight.

3 Had A Granddaughter

Allana Solo

During the Swarm War, Han and Leia meet Jedi Knight Tenel Ka's daughter, Allana, unknowing that she is their own granddaughter by Jacen Solo. During the Second Galactic Civil War, it was discovered that the same little girl they had met was actually their granddaughter. In Jacen's final moments, while fighting against his sister, he reached out to Tenel Ka and told her to protect Allana. She decided Allana would be safest with her grandparents and asked them to care for her.

2 Was Chief Of State

Leia Chief of State Legends

Before Leia became a Jedi Knight, she focused heavily on her political career and was instrumental in forging the New Republic. She was named Chief of State, a super important role that had once belonged to Mon Mothma. In fact, Mothma was the first person to hold this position, making it only fitting that Leia would follow sometime after her. Leia held this position in the office twice, during 11-18 ABY and again from 21-23 ABY.

1 Was Conflicted Between Politics & Jedi Duty

Leia Jedi Legends

Towards the end of the Legends run, Leia—along with Han Solo and Luke Skywalker—struggled between the conflict of politics and the Jedi. Natasi Daala was serving as Chief of State for the Galactic Alliance, and she was causing a massive rift between the Jedi and the government just after the end of the Second Galactic War. Things became extremely tense between everyone, but Leia chose her side and stood with the Jedi Order.
