Star Wars: The High Republic is expanding its story into the realm of comics, with Marvel publishing the first comic series in the new product line. The official Star Wars website released a preview of the first issue, which focuses on Jedi Padawan Keeve Trennis.

"I came up with the character of Keeve Trennis in our first Project Luminous summit," writer Cavan Scott said. "Now to see her coming to life through Ario [Anindito] and Mark [Morales'] art is wonderful." Keeve is shown training with Jedi Master Sskeer; Scott previously described him as "loyal, but brutally honest."

"Helping build this part of the Star Wars mythos is a dream for all of us at Marvel," Marvel editor Mark Paniccia added. This includes the return of the Ximpi, a race that was first introduced by Star Wars writer Charles Soule in the Star Wars: Lando miniseries. "I loved them then and when they popped up again in Doctor Aphra, I couldn't resist going to their home planet. One thing we'll learn about Keeve is that she's always picking up waifs and strays on her travels. She just can't help herself," Scott said.

Star Wars: The High Republic #1 currently has no release date. The first High Republic novel, Light of the Jedi, will go on sale in 2021.
