Viewers are first introduced to Poe Dameron in The Force Awakens and he goes on to appear in the next two movies in the sequel trilogy as well. Characterized as someone along the lines of Han Solo, Poe is the more rash, urgent, and brave, yet comical one amongst the lead trio of Rey, Finn, and Poe. Played by Oscar Issac, Poe is the one who is part of the Resistance from the very beginning.

He matures from his rash Captain ways into the General by the end of his character arc in the movies. Poe is not afraid to say what's on his mind, and he doesn't care about who he is upsetting. He's very action-oriented and viewers will take great delight in seeing how even though he is as funny as he was in the beginning, he grows to be someone with restraint who understands the importance of working together.

10 "So, Who Talks First. You Talk First? I Talk First?"

When he is first captured by Kylo Ren, viewers see Poe make light of the situation by saying these lines. In this manner, from the very beginning, it is evident that he is not someone who is easily scared by anything.

Poe is a person who finds humor in any situation, no matter how dangerous. While Kylo Ren looks murderous, Poe simply makes fun of the dramatic situation, calling out the stereotypical nature of the hero/villain face-off that is happening.

9 "It's Just Very Hard To Understand You With All The...Apparatus."

Most obviously, Darth Vader inspired fear because of his mask, and so does Kylo Ren. But Poe again shows how much easier it is to deal with scary figures by just making fun of them.

When Kylo Ren appears wearing the mask to interrogate Poe, he simply says out loud that the "apparatus" is going to make it difficult for him to understand what Kylo Ren wants. Oscar Issac's deadpan delivery makes it a very memorable and comical moment.

8 "So, You're Telling Us The One Time We Need You To Talk, You Can't?"

C-3PO is a delightfully annoying character who has been irritating heroes since forever. So when C-3PO turns out to be one of the most essential characters during the course of their mission, and C-3PO's programming makes him unable to do what is needed, it becomes truly frustrating and hilarious.

Fans will recall how this is close to something that C-3PO does in Return Of The Jedi as well when he says that his programming doesn't allow him to pretend to be a god. Here, Poe states the obvious when he says that for someone like C-3PO who normally won't shut up, that he is unable to actually talk when he is needed to is very ironic.

7 "We're Going To Die In Sand Burrows And We're All Keeping Secrets?"

Oscar Isaac as Poe Dameron

When they were sinking into the sand, Finn shouts out that there was something he never told Rey. After they are in the burrows, Rey asks him what it was but Finn shuts her down saying that he'll tell her later.

With no tact at all, Poe comes in asking, "You mean when Poe's not here?" Poe is obviously disgruntled by the fact that Finn is not saying what he wants to say in front of him and he doesn't hide his irritation.

6 "Happy Beeps Here, Buddy"

02-bb-8

Poe and BB-8 have one of the cutest relationships in the sequel trilogy. They love each other so much and are so in sync with each other. When Poe attempts anything incredibly rash, BB-8 starts making sounds that make it seem as though BB-8 is terrified and scared.

But Poe comforts the droid and says that what is needed is optimism and hope, and of course, happy beeps.

5 "We've Pulled Crazier Stunts Than This"

Poe Dameron The Force Awakens

There are some moments when it is impossible to not compare Poe Dameron to Han Solo. This is one of those instances. Poe pulls the craziest stunt with the First Order fleet right in front of him. In a manner of convincing both BB-8 and himself, he says to BB-8 that it'll be fine because they've done crazier things than this.

This quote is clever because it implies two things; one, the stunt they're about to pull is incredibly crazy, and two, they have been doing things like this in the past as well.

4 "Hi, I'm Holding For General Hux"

General Hux in the Star Wars sequel trilogy

In one of the most hilarious moments in the sequel trilogy, Poe and General Hux have a back and forth over the communication systems. Poe reaches out saying that he wants to speak to General Hux.

General Hux proceeds to give him a very stereotypical villain monologue which Poe appears to not hear, saying that he's still on hold for General Hux. Here again, fans see how Poe uses humor as a weapon against the very serious First Order.

3 "Permission To Jump In An X-Wing And Blow Something Up?"

Leia and Poe in Star Wars: The Last Jedi

Leia slaps him and shouts at him for being rash and just being trigger-happy in every situation. Leia admonishes him for his lack of restraint and his inability to see the larger picture, saying that all he wants to do is to jump in an X-Wing and blow stuff up.

But later a situation arises when that is exactly what is needed, and Poe is only too happy to repeat what his General has said back to her.

2 "We Are The Spark That'll Light The Fire That'll Burn The First Order Down"

Poe truly takes up the mantle of the Leader of the movement and the General as he grows to understand what it means to be at the helm of the Resistance. He understands what Luke is doing, and he understands what it means to escape and continue the Resistance.

He knows that even though they are few in number, they will light the fire that'll bring together people to fight against the tyranny of the First Order. He truly becomes the leader then.

1 "Then We Go Together."

Poe also understands what it means to work together, to have each other's backs. When they find out that Rey is going to Exegol and she is showing them how to reach her, Poe doesn't jump into his X-Wing alone to go to her. He says that "we go together."

This is a remarkable moment because Poe realizes that it is bigger than just himself. He sees better how to do things now and he knows how much he relies on the support of his friends, and how he must support them in return.
