Ahsoka Tano's journey through Star Wars has been interesting, to say the least. Recently, she was seen in her live-action debut on Season 2 of The Mandalorian as a mature and skilled master of the Force. But before that, she was a young Jedi betrayed by one of her closest friends in the Order —and it wasn't Anakin Skywalker.

Like most Younglings, Ahsoka was brought to the Temple at a young age to be trained. As Anakin discovered years earlier, the Jedi Council did not believe in training children older than a certain age. That's because the older someone was, the harder it was for them to open their mind to the potential of the Force.

Ahsoka was found on her homeworld, Shili, by Jedi Master Plo Koon. As one of the most highly respected Jedi Masters during the Clone Wars, Plo Koon was often assigned weighty and dangerous missions. Despite surviving many devastating battles and carving out a seemingly endless list of victories for the Republic, he died rather unceremoniously during the initial implementation of Order 66. He was shot down over Cato Neimoidia by his own Clone Troopers.

But during the Clone Wars, Plo Koon and Ahsoka Tano had a special bond. She often looked at the Jedi Master as a father figure, going to him for guidance when she became frustrated with Anakin's teaching style. Anakin Skywalker may have been her official master, but Plo Koon also played a huge role in guiding her on her path to becoming a Jedi. That's why his betrayal hurt so much more than Anakin's.

When Ahsoka was excommunicated from the Jedi Order for a crime she did not commit, almost every Jedi turned their back on her. The only ones who didn't were Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi, although Anakin was more openly aggressive with his objections. Despite their important bond, Plo Koon nevertheless abandoned Ahsoka, choosing to believe the unconvincing circumstantial evidence.

He supported Ahsoka's removal from the Jedi Order, and later apologized to her for not believing her when she was proved innocent. By then, it was too late, and Ahsoka walked away from the Order to re-evaluate her path. However, this decision may have saved her life as it put her in a better position to survive Order 66 than if she had remained a Jedi at Anakin's side.

Plo Koon's betrayal of Ahsoka was far more personal than Anakin's. He may have turned to the Dark Side and became the Emperor's right-hand man, but none of that was directed specifically at Ahsoka. Until the events of Star Wars Rebels, Anakin thought she was dead. While he appeared to kill her in their battle on Malachor, it was later revealed that Ezra actually saved her.

Ahsoka Tano Plo Koon

As painful as Anakin's transformation into Darth Vader was for Ahsoka, knowing that a cherished mentor like Plo Koon stopped believing in her so easily must have felt worse. The sad truth of both situations was that Ahsoka never had the opportunity to reconcile with either of them. Plo Koon died at the end of the Clone Wars while the only known meeting between Ahsoka and Darth Vader ended with the clash of lightsabers.
