Marvel has released the solicitation for the first issue of its Star Wars: The High Republic comic.
The comic focuses on Jedi Padawan Keeve Trennis as she is presented with the ultimate choice between completing her Jedi training or saving the victims of the Great Disaster. Her journey will take her to the Starlight Beacon, a massive space station meant to help starships find their way in the galaxy. The comic is written by Cavan Scott, who has penned several Star Wars novels including Dooku-Jedi Lost. Ario Anindito will handle art duties.

Star Wars: The High Republic is a new publishing initiative set 200 years before the events of Star Wars: The Phantom Menace. An event called 'The Great Disaster' has knocked starships out of their hyperplanes, causing the Jedi Order to race to the rescue. The Jedi are at the height of their powers, with their clothing and even their lightsabers drawing influence from Arthurian legend.
The initiative begins with Star Wars: The High Republic-Light of the Jedi from author Charles Soule, which debuts Jan. 5, 2021. The High Republic comic will take place after the events of Light of the Jedi, according to Scott.
Star Wars: The High Republic #1 goes on sale Jan. 2021 from Marvel.
