It's possible that Disney+'s Obi-Wan Kenobi will make Obi-Wan someone's "only hope" years in advance.

According to a StarWarsNewsNet report, Obi-Wan Kenobi's story will involve the titular Jedi tracking down and rescuing a 10-year-old Leia Organa from "a Cantina-like establishment." The post teases that the location boasts a "healthy mixture of new and familiar creatures" but doesn't specify their relationship to Kenobi's past or current lifestyle. It's also unclear whether this Leia-centric story will make up a small or large part of Obi-Wan Kenobi's runtime, as the miniseries will only consist of six episodes, a shorter length than either The Mandalorian or The Book of Boba Fett.

Another familiar face rumored to return for Obi-Wan Kenobi alongside Ewan McGregor is Jimmy Smits, who played Leia's adoptive father Bail Organa in Episode II: Attack of the ClonesEpisode III: Revenge of the Sith and Rogue One: A Star Wars StoryRevenge of the Sith specifically elaborated upon Kenobi and Organa's decision to separate Luke and Leia at birth, with Kenobi sending Luke to live with his aunt and uncle on Tatooine while Organa adopted Leia as his own. Both Joel Edgerton and Bonnie Piesse will reprise their roles as Owen and Beru Lars. Hayden Christensen will also return as Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader, though his masked Vader scenes and combat scenes will be handled by different actors.

Aside from a new poster confirming Obi-Wan Kenobi's release date, most details about the show's plot have been revealed through concept art. These not only featured Obi-Wan's volcanic rematch with Vader, but also an Imperial facility and an Inquisitor departing a spaceship. Speculation about the Inquisitor's identity has leaned toward Star Wars Rebels' Seventh Sister, though Fast & Furious star Sung Kang will supposedly play her animated compatriot, the Fifth Brother. Reports have also suggested that Rupert Friend will play the Grand Inquisitor, the leader of the Inquistorius and a major antagonist from Season 1 of Rebels.

Connections between Star Wars' animated and live-action shows will continue to appear in Disney+'s Ahsoka spinoff, which begins production in April. Ahsoka will see Christensen reprise his role as Anakin Skywalker opposite Rosario Dawson's Ahsoka Tano, as well as notable Rebels characters like Sabine Wren and Grand Admiral Thrawn. Though Thrawn, who first appeared in 1991's Heir to the Empire novel, was initially rendered non-canon following Disney's erasure of the Expanded Universe, Star Wars Rebels creator Dave Filoni brought him back as the show's primary villain for Season 3 onward.

Obi-Wan Kenobi premieres on Disney+ May 25.
