Disney+ has released the first official teaser trailer for its upcoming Star Wars series Obi-Wan Kenobi, which sees Ewan McGregor reprise his role as the titular Jedi Master for the first time in 17 years.

Set to the tune of "Duel of the Fates" with hints of "Battle of the Heroes," the trailer features the first look at the long-awaited Star Wars series as the deadly Inquisitors hunt down any remaining Jedi while Obi-Wan is in hiding on Tatooine. Notably, the footage features a look at both the Grand Inquisitor and a young Luke Skywalker, not to mention the villainous newcomer Reva.

McGregor starred as Obi-Wan Kenobi in the Star Wars Prequel Trilogy from 1999 to 2005. Obi-Wan, also known as Ben Kenobi, was originally portrayed by the late, great Alec Guinness in the original Star Wars trilogy from 1977 to 1983. Set between the events of 2005's Revenge of the Sith and 1977's Star Wars, Disney+'s Obi-Wan Kenobi will serve to bridge the gap between these two versions of the character, following the exploits of Obi-Wan after he swore to protect the young Luke Skywalker. The series is due to premiere on May 25, the very same day the original Star Wars hit theaters 45 years ago.

In addition to McGregor, Obi-Wan Kenobi sees fellow Prequel Trilogy star Hayden Christensen reprise his role as Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader. (He is expected to return for Disney+'s Rosario Dawson-led Star Wars series Ahsoka as well.) Moreover, Joel Edgerton and Bonnie Piesse are set to reprise their roles as Owen and Beru Lars, respectively. The series also stars Rupert Friend, Moses Ingram, Sung Kang, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, O'Shea Jackson Jr., Simone Kessell, Benny Safdie, Maya Erskine and Rory Ross.

McGregor recently promised that Obi-Wan Kenobi will be rather fulfilling watch for Star Wars fans, describing his time working on the show as a "great experience" and speaking highly of director Deborah Chow, who previously worked on Disney+'s The Mandalorian. "She really knows the Star Wars world, inside out, far more than I do," McGregor said. We just had a great time."

The actor continued, "I think it's no secret that Hayden Christensen comes back and we got to play scenes together again as Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker and it was great to work with him again. I'm not going to give away anything else about the storyline, only I think it's really going to satisfy Star Wars fans."
