Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker actor Naomi Ackie opened up about the potential for more Jannah and what could be next for the orphan girl from Kef Bir.

Discussing Jannah's debut in The Rise of Skywalker, Ackie told Digital Spy, "Jannah was a completely new character and I like the idea that the Star Wars universe is expanding. I think Jannah could get a spin-off. She has a really rich backstory that JJ [Abrams] told me about, and a future that we still don’t know about." Ackie said Jannah was an important role in the movie and went on to praise Disney for casting her as one of the first female black leads in the franchise.

The fact Ackie mentioned Abrams telling her Jannah's backstory also hints that there's more than meets the eye to the former First Order stormtrooper. Ackie's Jannah was introduced during Episode IX's search for the Sith wayfinder and the Resistance's journey to the wreckage of the Death Star on the Ocean Moon on Endor. The movie's climax implied there was more to Jannah's story by hinting that fan-favorite Lando Calrissian could be her father. However, the credits rolled before J.J. Abrams solved the mystery. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker: The Visual Dictionary also implied Jannah is the long-lost daughter of Lando, but the actor isn't willing to give a definitive answer.

Abrams rounded off the story of the nine-movie Skywalker Saga and gave a definitive end to the arc of Luke, Leia, and even Daisy Ridley's Rey. Although there are plenty of Star Wars projects on the horizon, Disney+ series like The Mandalorian as well as the Cassian Andor and Obi-Wan Kenobi shows chart parts of the timeline that are long before The Rise of Skywalker. There aren't any current plans to continue a post -Episode IX timeline

With Jannah's cliffhanger ending and plenty of gaps between her birth and her The Rise of Skywalker, a spinoff is an entirely plausible pitch. Despite Ackie's hopes, it's unclear whether a Jannah spinoff will actually happen. As well as continued questions over Jannah's parentage, it looks like the actor will have to wait a little longer to see if she gets to return to the galaxy far, far away.
