It looks like Electronic Arts is gearing up to produce another multiplayer game set in that galaxy far, far away.

A new job posting on EA's website is for the position of Senior Online Designer based out of EA Vancouver with the job description listed as:

We are looking for a talented and experienced Lead Online Designer to join an established group of developers working on a AAA Star Wars title in development at EA Vancouver. This is an opportunity to join a veteran team and help craft the vision and execution of a compelling, innovative and immersive Star Wars experience.

The posting's listed responsibilities for the new position include that the hire will "align all connected features with the single-player narrative and gameplay into a cohesive experience" while also delivering "a unique online experience".

The interesting language about the project featuring a single-player narrative balanced with online gameplay is consistent with recent sci fi action titles such as the Bungie hit shooter Destiny. EA had also previously delivered a narrative-focused online game in the 2011's Star Wars: The Old Republic.

The Bioware-developed online game had players band together as either Jedi or Sith and complete their own story arcs across a three-act narrative structure set millennia before the events of The Phantom Menace. While it received critical acclaim upon its initial release, the subscription-driven MMORPG fell below one million subscribers less than six months after its launch. The hemorrhaging of subscribers led to EA to switch the game to a free-to-play hybrid subscription with paid DLC expansions added to the base game. The sixth and final expansion for The Old Republic, Knights of the Eternal Throne, closed out the storyline and was released in December 2016.

As EA begins development on a new, unannounced Star Wars online title, the veteran video game publisher could be looking to set a similar game in the new Star Wars Expanded Universe.
