There are lots of things that fan love about Star Wars but one of the coolest things about it is the giant space battles. From Yavin IV to Endor, Scariff to Coruscant, the space battles of Star Wars supply some wonderful spectacle for audiences to lose themselves in. The integral component of any space battle, though, are the starships fighting them.

Star Wars has some of the coolest ship designs in all of sci-fi. From fighters to battleships, there are lots of very powerful starships in Star Wars, which is fitting for something with the word "wars" in the title. Here's a look at ten of the strongest starships in Star Wars.

10 Profundity

A MC-75 Mon Calamari Cruiser, the Profundity was the flagship for the Rebel fleet at the Battle of Scarrif. Armed with twenty point-defense laser cannons, twelve turbolaser cannons, four ion cannons, twelve proton torpedo launchers, and six tractor beam projectors, the Profundity was rather heavily armed but a bit of a glass cannon.

When the Devastator arrived at Scarrif, it was able to disable the Profundity in short order. While it had been in a battle for a little bit, the fact it couldn't stand up to the main Imperial ship of the line for too long is a bad look.

9 Venator-class Star Destroyer

The Venator-class Star Destroyer would come to be the mainline battleship of the Republic forces in the Clone Wars. The Venator was armed with eight heavy turbolaser cannons, two medium dual turbolaser cannons, four torpedo launchers, six heavy tractor beam projectors, and mission-specific weapons mounts.

While the Venator doesn't have the largest armament, it holds a massive number of starfighters, which makes up for its lack of weapons and makes it an extremely dangerous vessel.

8 Raddus

An MC85 Mon Calamari Star cruiser, the Raddus was armed with eighteen heavy turbolasers, eighteen ion cannons, twelve point defense laser cannons, six proton torpedo launchers, and one tractor beam emitter. Surprisingly under armed for such a large ship and a bit of a step back in arms compared to its predecessor, the MC80, it had very powerful shields which made up for its lack of weapons.

These shields allowed it to pull off what would become known as the Holdo Maneuver, a suicide strike that was very effective but also extremely costly and foolhardy.

7  MC80 Liberty-type Mon Calamari Star Cruiser

The MC80 Liberty-type Mon Cal Star Cruiser was the backbone of the Rebel Alliance fleet. No two were alike, as the Mon Cal enjoyed creating unique vessels. These ships had to be heavily modified for battle and a typical weapons load was forty-eight turbolaser cannons, twenty heavy dual ion cannon batteries, and a variable load of torpedoes, point defense lasers, and tractor beam emitters.

Mon Cal ships were known for their toughness, even though they were refitted pleasure craft. Their shield projectors were designed with redundancies to keep the shields at full power regardless of the pounding they took.

6 Imperial-class Star Destroyer

The Imperial-class Star Destroyer was the backbone of the Imperial Fleet. There were two different types- the Imperial-I and the Imperial-II, each with different weapons loads, but they both have one thing in common - they're designed for a wide variety of combat roles.

From ship to ship battle to planetary assault to carrying troops to its role as a carrier, the Imperial-class Star Destroyer is one of the most powerful mainline starships ever designed and a much more versatile ship than it gets credit for being.

5 Invisible Hand

The flagship of Count Dooku and General Grievous during the Battle of Coruscant, this Providence-class dreadnought was armed with fourteen quad turbolaser turrets, thirty-four dual laser cannons, two heavy ion cannons, one hundred and two proton torpedo launchers, and tractor beams.

While a bit undergunned for a ship over a kilometer long, it more than made up for it with its massive number of torpedo tubes and its twenty squads of droid starfighters. This allowed for it to be very versatile in combat and hit harder than its amount of gun batteries would make it seem.

4 Resurgent-class Star Destroyer

The Resurgent-class Star Destroyer was the ship that the First Order used to become powerful. Almost three kilometers long, the Resurgent was armed with over fifteen hundred turbolasers, point defense cannons, and ion cannons, as well as quad point defense missile batteries and tractor beam projectors.

These massive vessels were able to bulldoze their way through just about any enemy and also carried a large contingent of TIE fighters, troops, and ground assault vehicles.

3 Malevolence

A massive, almost five-kilometer long Subjugator-class heavy cruiser, the Malevolence was the Separatists' most dangerous vessel in the early going of the Clone Wars. Armed with five hundred turbolasers and a variety of point defense lasers and tractor beam emitters, its most powerful weapon was its experimental mega-ion cannons.

These weapons allowed the Malevolence to disable entire fleets of ships and it had the firepower to leisurely destroy these vessels before they could get their systems back online. Only a daring fighter assault was able to stop it from ending the war almost before it started.

2 Executor

Darth Vader's flagship for Death Squadron, the Executor was nineteen kilometers of power. Armed with over five thousand turbolaser and ion cannon batteries, as well as concussion missile tubes, it also carried thousands of ships in its cavernous holds, all with the purpose of destroying the Empire's enemies.

It makes sense that Darth Vader used to the ship to hunt down the Rebel base and later took it to Endor to protect the Death Star-II. It was destroyed by a fluke fighter attack and the hubris of its crew, but it's still one of the most powerful ships ever built.

1 Supremacy

The Supremacy was a massive Mega-class Star Dreadnought. Thirteen kilometers long with a sixty-kilometer wingspan, the Supremacy carried thousands of weapon batteries and was the largest ship ever made in galactic history. The flagship of Supreme Leader Snoke, it was a force to reckoned with.

The scale of the Supremacy is mind-boggling. It carried eight Resurgent-class Star Destroyers like other ships carried fighters and even had its own onboard ship production facilities. If it wasn't for the Raddus crashing into it, nothing would have destroyed this massive dreadnought.
