Aside from the lightsabers they wield, the Jedi are probably the most iconic thing to come out of the extensive and expansive Star Wars franchise. Keepers of peace, justice, and order, stories surrounding the Jedi Order have inspired multiple comics, novels, and video games outside of the famous "Skywalker Saga" depicted in films.

The ways of the Jedi have gone through many changes over the years, most notably when Disney acquired Lucasfilm and retconned many expanded universe stories into "Star Wars Legends." Some of the most famous Jedi were even erased, while others had their roles completely changed or reversed. The Clone Wars was one of the greatest storylines to be affected because of this, and many Jedi weren't given their due.

10 Fay

Fay about to attack Asajj Ventress

Fay was an ancient, near-human Jedi Master who possessed one of the strongest connections (if not the strongest) with The Force ever documented. A wanderer, she traveled for centuries through the Outer-Rim territories of the galaxy, guided by The Force. Said to have never raised a lightsaber in combat, Fay resolved countless conflicts and wars.

During the initial months of the war, the Separatists developed a powerful bio-weapon that killed those unfortunate enough to encounter it through internal bleeding. Following The Force, Fay found Obi-Wan Kenobi and other wandering Jedi on the planet Queyta, where an antidote was held. Badly wounded, Fay sacrificed her life to imbue Obi-Wan with her strength, saving his life and millions more through the antidote.

9 T'ra Saa

Like Fay, the Neti Jedi known as T'ra Saa was one of the oldest Jedi in existence, outliving even Master Yoda. Though her exact age is unclear, she attained the rank of Jedi Master centuries before The Clone Wars. Participating in the first battle of Geonosis, Saa became a general and operated largely alongside Aayla Secura, Quinlan Vos, and Tholme (whom she was in love with).

She was one of the most powerful Force Healers during The Clone Wars and was also capable of using The Force to meld others' thoughts. Surviving Order 66, Saa would live on to become part of The New Jedi Order. By the time of her death, she could absorb blaster fire with her bare hands, use The Force to project a gigantic beam of light, and had perfected Battle Meditation.

8 Aayla Secura

Aayla Secura has always been one of the most popular Jedi of the franchise and was one of the first female Jedi to receive solo storylines - alongside Shaak Ti and Leia Organa. She participated in many key battles throughout the war and was among the first Jedi to fight General Grevious. She was noted for being one of the few Jedi to openly respect and treat her Clones as more than expendable fodder, was held in relatively high regard even after Order 66.

Furthermore, Aayla was key in restoring her former master, Quinlan Vos, to the Light Side of The Force. Like Vos, she was also adept at taking on aliases and was an accomplished spy. She also fought and bested many Dark Jedi during the war, including Aurra Sing.

7 Obi-Wan Kenobi

Master to Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi was one of the most active Jedi in the field during The Clone Wars. A veteran of many battles, including Geonosis, Kamino, Muunilinst, Jabiim, and Valahari, Kenobi was respected by comrades and foes alike for his leadership and combat skills. Kenobi's counsel was also highly valued by some of the most high ranking Jedi in the Order, including Mace Windu and Yoda.

In his many missions, Kenobi came face to face with Dark Jedi, Sith, and General Grevious numerous times, besting them or managing to fight them to a drawl. Though a warrior by nature, subterfuge was not beneath Kenobi. He even faked his own death to enact an elaborate plan that uncovered a plot to assassinate Chancellor Palpatine.

6 Ahsoka Tano

Anakin Skywalker's first and only Jedi apprentice, Ahsoka Tano was a character originally introduced through animation. First appearing in the widely panned animated film Star Wars: The Clone Wars in 2008, Ahsoka eventually developed into one of the franchise's most beloved characters. Her apprenticeship was riddled with hardships, betrayal, and heartbreak, but Anakin never gave up on her.

Anakin's training served her well, but Ahsoka also proved herself capable in her own right, helping to secure victories on planets like Ryloth, Geonosis, and Mon Cala. Framed for bombing and murder, Ahsoka was nearly convicted of treason before Skywalker proved her innocence. Disillusioned with the Jedi - who'd largely not believed her - she left The Order, though continued to fight the Separatists and later lived on to survive Order 66.

5 Oppo Rancisis

Like Masters T'ra Saa, Fay, and Yoda, Oppo Rancisis was one of the oldest living Jedi during The Clone Wars (even if his age was dwarfed by several centuries). A member of the Jedi Council, he largely remained on Coruscant throughout the war but contributed battle tactics and strategy across the galaxy.

Notably, his strategies were used in Kamino's defense, the battle of Zaadja, and the Seige of Saleucami. It's not an overstatement to say that many of The Republic's victories can be attributed to his intense Battle Meditation. Legends and Canon differ on his fate, perishing by the hand of Dark Jedi Sora Bulq on Saleucami and escaping Order 66, respectively.

4 Shaak Ti

Whether it was through Legends or the new Canon, Shaak Ti was undoubtedly one of the most skilled Jedi of The Clone Wars. Even when Ahsoka may have overshadowed her, Ti made sure that audiences wouldn't forget where the younger Togruta character got her inspiration from. As a member of The Jedi Council, Shaak Ti was known for her unwavering patience, empathy, and power.

Heavily involved in the defense of Kamino and the battle of Coruscant, Ti - like Aayla- was also one of the first Jedi to encounter General Grevious during the war. She spearheaded many operations throughout the Clone Wars, including the battle of Brentaal IV and the battle of Dagu. She was one of the last Jedi standing against Gervious when he captured Palpatine and (in Legends) survived Order 66.

3 Mace Windu

Samuel L. Jackson as Mace Windu

As one of the most famous members of the Jedi Order and its official leader, Mace Windu was without a doubt one of the greatest Jedi to ever live. Second only to Grand Master Yoda, Windu was the field leader at the first battle of Geonosis when The Clone Wars began. During the course of the war, he acted as an overseer of operation on Courscant, personally consulted with Chancellor Palpatine, and often led high scale missions himself.

Windu was one of the few Jedi to grow dissatisfied with how the war had caused the Senate and the Jedi to essentially intertwine, feeling that the Jedi were not meant to be generals. Over time, he began to distrust Palpatine and was the first to call for him to relinquish his emergency powers during the war. Had it not been for an untimely intervention, Windu very well may have saved the galaxy and the Jedi.

2 Quinlan Vos

One of the most drastically changed characters between Legends and Canon, Quinlan Vos was notable in the Jedi Order for his unconventional methods. He'd often find his way around the Code to meet his goals, gaining a certain level of infamy as a result. A Kiffar, Vos possessed the rare ability known as Psychometry, which allowed him to "read" objects and witness events related to them.

As a result of his methods and his ability, Vos often operated out of the shadows. He also acted under numerous aliases and often assumed the demeanor of a fallen Jedi to solidify his deception. His struggle with the Dark Side expanded several story arcs in Dark Horse's Republic series, and he was involved in a plot to assassinate Count Dooku with Asajj Ventress in the canon novel Dark Disciple.

1 Anakin Skywalker

While he was anything but a Jedi by war's end, Anakin Skywalker was once a beacon of hope and a badge of pride for the Jedi Order. The prophesized "Chosen One," Skywalker was believed to be the key in bringing balance to The Force. Throughout his tenure on the battlefield, he became renowned as the best pilot in the galaxy.

Still, there were plenty of times during the course of the war where Skywalker could have fallen to the Dark Side, such as after the battle of Jaabim. Skywalker's initial resolve not to stray too far into the Dark Side, combined with his innumerable victories on the battlefield and his teaching of Ahsoka (who would live to carry on the Jedi way), is proof enough he wouldn't stay a Sith Lord forever.
