Maz Kanata had a role in the most recent Star Wars movie that likely should have been larger than it was. The Force Awakens made it seem like she was going to have an array of questions, but then she just up and practically disappeared in The Last Jedi, only appearing in a brief scene. Even in The Rise of the Skywalker, she was nothing more than a background character.

It's a little disappointing considering her stature as a pirate queen, however, everyone knows the plethora of problems this newest trilogy had. Still, her character was unique enough to get more than a few cosplayers to put in the labor needed to do her justice.

10 Cast And Molded

This job by Alex Bosak is incredible, looking like something that would be in the actual movie. That's how well done the makeup here is. This isn't something flimsy where if you touch it, you run the risk of ruining the entire cosplay, as simple paint can be.

The way he did the wrinkles around the eyes and mouth is jaw-droppingly detailed. Nothing with it seems off, all of it meant to and succeeding in replicating the character perfectly.

9 Repurposed

The fact they repurposed a set of headphones and used them as a way to make their goggles is so resourceful. They don't look half bad either, showing that sometimes thrifting can look just as good the professionally done cosplay.

Their skin is a little too orange for Maz, but they do an admirable job with the wrinkles. This is particularly true along the forehead and over the nose. The goggles do a good job of helping enlarge their eyes as well.

8 Size Matters

It is difficult to tell how they managed to get themselves to mimic the size of Maz. Be it that they are natural or some clever way to hide their legs, either way, the result is awesome. Size usually isn't that big a deal, but when it comes to someone like Maz, it can certainly help enhance a cosplay. Not that this one needed much help.

They have all of the small things you'd want with Maz, from the lightsaber to the beads, and even the jewelry along her wrists.

7 Alien

For a first try, this attempt by Huntersbeauty is pretty excellent. Most people's first attempt wouldn't even come out half as good as this. The job done around the eyes and nose is top-notch, successfully making it appear as if her eyes are sunken inward, just as Maz's are.

It isn't an easy dynamic to pull off, one that she should be proud of. Sure her goggles are less than stellar, but rarely are you ever going to have a cosplay that is pure perfection.

6 Rounded

There's something oddly eye-catching about how round they made Maz's head. It may be a little too rounded, but that can be forgiven when they are one of the few who found a good balance with the orange in her skin tone.

Some either go a little too pale or are far too orange, looking more like a burnt piece of cheese. This is a very good balance. The only other drawback is that their goggles could use just an extra few inches to them so they met her eyes.

5 Mismatched

It wasn't as noticeable with her size, but Maz is not the sharpest dresser, having colors from all over the spectrum just mismatched together in such a hodgepodge of an outfit. The result is someone who clearly didn't get by on their fashion sense.

Cosplay4christ deserves credit for being one of the first to do Maz's beltline right. She always had a variety of things hanging from it, treating it like her very own Batman utility belt.

4 This Is Yours

Just rolling through something with little to no explanation is something that the new trilogy of films is known for, and Maz finding Luke's lightsaber just happens to be one of those. It's just a thing that happened, and you have to roll with it. That aside, the lightsaber ended up being a big part of her character, and its inclusion in her cosplay is welcome.

The way she's offering it up makes it seem like an elderly woman who found someone's change on the ground, having to adjust her goggles to see properly.

3 Rey

This is the second photo to have a focus on the lightsaber, this one having the benefit of having Rey in the image. Maz handing the saber off to Rey was one of the more important scenes in the Force Awakens, helping set her on the path that led to the final conflict in The Rise of the Skywalker.

The roundness of Maz's head doesn't throw things off quite as much when the photo is taken from a distance either, being far less noticeable.

2 Life-Like

The work done here by Wretched_Hive_Creations on this Maz' mask, if you can even call it that, is outstanding. It looks so lifelike, far from the cheaper things you'd associate with Halloween.

There's nothing cheap about this at all, fully transforming Evaarla_Kal into the tiny Pirate Queen of the Star Wars universe. From what we can see from the image, the rest of the cosplay is only going to further enhance that lifelike appearance she has now.

1 Pure Shock

There are two reasons this needed its entry, first is that it gives a fuller view of the cosplay, showing how accurate the clothing is. They have the outfit down to a tee, right down to the large beads hanging from her neck.

The other reason is the shocked expression of the lady in the background. Her look would be everyone's if they saw something this detailed at a convention. At first glance, you'd think they were just a mannequin.
