The Skywalker Saga of Star Wars films have spanned over 40 years, and one of the only characters to appear in all nine films is the astromech droid, R2-D2. Since R2 never had his memory wiped, one of the lingering questions concerning R2's presence across the Skywalker timeline is why the droid never told Luke Skywalker that Darth Vader was his father. Now, Mark Hamill has responded to that question, though the answer may not be what fans are expecting.Hamill revealed he has no plausible answer to Star Wars' R2-D2 plot hole, stating, "I read this tweet, thought long and hard... then just shrugged and walked away.#NoPlausibleAnswer"RELATED: Star Wars Confirmed One Jedi Is WAY More Powerful Than Darth Vader

Unlike his best friend C-3PO, R2 has managed not to have his memory erased, meaning he should have been aware of Anakin Skywalker's turn to the dark side of the Force to become Darth Vader. However, not once did he ever take the time to fill Luke Skywalker in before Darth Vader told Luke in The Empire Strikes Back.

A definitive answer has never been given by the creators behind the Star Wars franchise for R2's silence regarding Luke's parentage. However, if Mark Hamill isn't spending too much time worrying about it, then perhaps fans shouldn't either.
